View Full Version : Hundreds of family members want a new Investigation?

We hear this a lot, that hundreds of 9-11 family members have unanswered questions and want a whole new investigation.
So my question is: where are all these family members?
We hear 3 or 4 truthers yelling and screaming at Clinton, Obama, etc etc, that hundreds of family members want a new inquiry, yet we never see or hear from them. So where the heck are they?
The fact is, if there were really "hundreds" of 9-11 family members who wanted a new investigation, they would be lobbying Congress and they would get it. The fact that there is no 2nd investigation proves that they dont exist.
Sorry truthers, you have lied again.

Presumably a part of this new investigation is into whether the phone calls were real, whether pilot Charles Burlingame was in fact a government agent, whether the storming of the cockpit by the passengers of Flight 93 took place and whether the plane even crashed in Shanksville at all, whether the passengers of all flights ever existed to begin with (remember Dylan saying the passengers were "more or less real"?), if the Jews were in on it (even though well over a hundred victims were Jewish), and whether the FDNY was in on the demolition of WTC7, if not the towers as well.
I wonder how many family members are seeking an investigation into whether their loved ones ever existed and whether they're just lying to the press.

Actually, this is one claim that I can at least imagine may be arguably true. Let's say each 9/11 victim left behind an average of say 10 people whom at least loosely could be defined as "family." (And indeed, I suspect truthers would be all too happy to consider second cousins twice removed as family.) That means there may be on the order of 30,000 family members out there. Even if a mere 1% fall for some part of the truther nonsense, you're talking 300 people. That may seem like a lot, if you conveniently neglect to mention the other 29,700.

So what if they are?
They don't deny or reject that Al Qaeda performed the attacks (well, except for a few nutters like the Jersey Girls) what they want is accountability from the government for failing to stop the attacks. That's what they wanted and that's what the 9/11 Commission was about.
The Commission's conclusion was basically that a "culture of apathy" led the US system as a whole to underestimate the threat and basically do little to avoid it.
The family members want some heads to role. They want someone they can direct their grief at as being responsible. The hijackers are no good - they're all dead.
What the US government should have done was indicted Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a civil court the moment they caught him, and put the bastard on trial for masterminding the attacks. That would have given the relatives something to focus their grief on.

why do 9-11 deniars always want us to prove a negative?
i have seen no evidence that hundreds of 9-11 family members want a new investigation. until this evidence is presented, it is a lie.

911summary claims (http://911summary.com/family.php) that "half of the victim's families believe that 9/11 was an inside job", a quote attributed to "the head of the largest 9/11 family group", Bill Doyle.
911summary links to a prisonplanet article (http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/july2006/080706governmentcomplicit.htm) that bills Doyle as "The representative of the largest group of 9/11 families".
911summary doesn't link to Doyle's group or even name it. Prisonplanet names it (Coalition of 911 Families (http://www.coalitionof911families.org)) and links it, but the link comes back "Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)". So we don't really know how many family members his group represents and whom 911summary and prisonplanet claim he speaks for when he goes on with truthist talking points. The group's wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coalition_of_9/11_Families) dials back the claim, that it's just "half of the 9/11 families he represents" that believe government complicity, but the link offered is dead.

In general, I'd suspect that a good portion of the "active" family members are in support of a new investigation. Because 2000 days later, the rest of the family members have gotten on with their lives.
Some of the ones who have not are clearly far left anti-Bush folks who can't accept that their bogeyman isn't responsible for the greatest tragedy in their lives. I was flabbergasted when I saw Press for Truth about how these ladies couldn't find answers for their questions, because I knew the questions either a) didn't have anything to do with their husbands and b) reflected an appalling ignorance of the basic facts. One of them even repeated the 21 minutes claim for Payne Stewart.
You're telling me this was the most important event of your life and so you followed it carefully and you still think Payne Stewart's plane was intercepted that quickly?

My favourite is the bit where they demonstrate their ignorance of the FBI's investigation in In Their Own Words and claim the FBI released photographs of the Hijackers a couple of days after the attacks. They saw this as a major smoking gun since there was no way the FBI could uncover such information so quickly. Too bad it actually took the FBI over two weeks to release photographs. Even the names were only released five days after the attacks.

So are they just ignorant of the flaws in their reasoning (or misinformed by those who have an agenda?) or willfully misleading people because they themselves have an agenda?

I've posted worse things...
Anyway, allow me to reword that and say that the silence in this thread is deafening.
