For those not familiar with this topic, Jews were banished from England in 1290 for this--just as they were also banished from Spain for this, as one of the reasons, in 1492. In fact, it is doubtful that you'd find a country in all of Europe where Jews hadn't suffered reprisals for reportedly engaging in this wicked crime. Jews probably thought--how dare that Gentile make fun of Jews and bring up this little-known topic to the forefront of the nation, while mocking us at the same time!

Robert Edwards must be punished--the Jews said in unison.

He can't have been arrested in the UK for "Holocaust denial" as we don't have any such law.

The UK does, however, have laws against inciting racial hatred (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incitement_to_ethnic_or_racial_hatred#United_Kingd om). Maybe that's what he was arrested for.

I'm torn about such laws, myself, but I won't cry myself to sleep tonight over this bigot.

Straight from the horse's (ass's) mouth: he was charged with "aiding and abetting, counselling and procuring the publication of material likely to incite racial hatred." (http://www.globalfire.tv/nj/06en/persecution/edwards.htm) He then adds, "It may have well been "Holocaust denial."

It sounds to me like it happened this way: he was jailed for inciting racial hatred, and then, desiring to be a martyr, proclaimed that the real reason he was jailed was Holocaust denial. But who knows? There's so little information available that it's basically impossible to comment further.

"This case involved the publication of a comic strip to stir up racial hatred. Held: 12 Months Imprisonment."
