BANJUL (Reuters) - A 28-year-old man accused of stealing a man's penis through sorcery was beaten to death in the West African country of Gambia on Thursday, police said.

A police spokesman told Reuters that Baba Jallow was killed by about 10 people in the town of Serekunda, nine miles from the capital Banjul.

Reports of penis snatching are not uncommon in West Africa, with purported victims claiming that alleged sorcerers simply touched them to make their genitals shrink or disappear in order to extort cash in the promise of a cure.

The police spokesman said many men in Serekunda were now afraid to shake hands, and he urged people not to believe reports of "vanishing" genitals. Belief in sorcery is widespread in West Africa.

Seven alleged penis snatchers were beaten to death by angry mobs in Ghana in 1997.

Imagine 200 years from now, when "West Africa's Penis Snatching trials" is featured on the History Channel... Embarrassing history to say the least...

These things happen when you have cultures that actively believe in sorcery. There are charges of witchcraft if futbol all the time in Africa. Not as grisly as the guy in Indonesia who was really burying women ans slaying them so he could drink thier saliva while they died.

It sounds a lot like some sort of code for homosexual activity to me....

There are cases of penis shrinkings. At least that's what one social worker told me. She said some men worry so much that they're not "big" enough or they're too small and will only get smaller with age, that the size of the penis actually decreases. It's a psychological thing, then, not a magical.

Now that you mention it, in some dialects "snatch" does mean ****. So a "penis snatching" would be a consummation devoutly to be wished.

Rubbish! Some men have small penises. The only question is whether that can be caused by witchcraft. :p

Plenty of kind people sent me email offering to cure my small-penis-ness. I tried it and it really works. The only question is having the discipline to know when to stop. :p

I admit I got carried away, but luckily I found a witch who was willing to shrink it back down to a more manageable 35.56 centimters. I should mention that I have metric vernier calipers in my kitchen drawer (usually used for measuring cheese slices), so I know this is precisely correct.

It seems to me these primitives could be tamed if only they had internet access. Then these same kind people could cure them too. :D
