After 40 years as a teacher, my Mum retired and has devoted the last 10 years to meticulous research for a series of historical novels. After a frustrating period of trying to find a publisher, she has self-published and is enjoying modest success in the North of England and even more modest success worldwide.

She published her second book last week and I couldn't be more proud. I am customer number 1 and looking forward to its arrival.

The first book is called "That Other Juana" and is a fictional account of the life of Juana the Mad. The second is called "A Matter of Pride" and is about Charles V. I loved the first book, but then I'm a highly partial judge.

Which Charles V?

The Holy Roman Emperor, I assume.

I'm betting since the Holy Roman Emperor* was Mad Juana's nephew, it's probably a sequel.

*The Holy Roman Empire was not Holy, was not Roman, and was not an Empire. Just sayin'.

Well, the last depends on how you define Empire, but it certainly wasn't holy or roman.

Congratulations to your mum The Don.

But "Unholy non-Roman Elected Imperial Confederacy" doesn't sound as nice.
