A story was released by the associated press that a medical study done on children with ADHD showed that taking St. John's Wort fared no better than placebos.

St. John's wort fails to help kids with ADHD (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25080691/)

I hope to see more stories like this in the future. Homeopathy does not work.

St. John's wort is herbal not homeopathic.

While I agree homeopathy is bunk, nothing in the linked study had anything to do with homeopathic remedies. It was comparing herbal remedies to a placebo.

I was mistaken about homeopathy. However, the article is about herbal supplements. I learn something new every day.

If you are still interested in the actual medical article, it is attached.

Has homeopathy succeeded in anything but scamming or harming people?

Although it's not actually homeopathic, I'm interested in this - I was under the impression that St John's Wort had previously tested quite positively for anti-depressive qualities. I'd not heard of it being used to treat ADHD though.

Actually data on St. John's Wort is kinda all over the place.

One small study in 2005 showed some very good results: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16160619

While a meta-review of all the data from 2005 showed only mild results: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/05/050522113250.htm

In Simon Singh and Edzard Ernst's new book "Trick or Treatment?" (which is excellent, BTW), St. John's Wort came out as one of only a small number of herbal medicines which has scientifically supported data, specifically for mild to moderate depression. As others have mentioned, it is definitely not homeopathic, since it does actually contain some ingredients!

In a separate chapter, the book completely trashes homeopathy.
