View Full Version : Get this; Comcast seems to have issued the same IP address TWICE.

I am helping a customer who cannot connect to our paid podcasts.

So, I got his IP address from his email, which in the header said it was in california on comcast.

I did a traceroute.

And it goes to florida.

This is obviously why he can't make a network connection to us!

How is that sort of thing allowed to happen?

And now I need to figure out how I, a non-customer, can get comcast's attention on this matter.

Doesn't Comcast use dynamic IP addresses? Have him unplug his cable modem for about 2-3 minutes, give the IP time to be reassigned, then power it back on.

The other possibility-- does Comcast use a Florida-based proxy server?

Also, try tracing it from nwtools.com to make sure it really is a Comcast IP address, and not one of the bigger providers that's leasing a block of IPs to Comcast and other ISPs.
