My work computer had 2 of these yesterday.
The screen goes bright turquoise with darker blue numbers and letters, at the bottom of the page are the words "the computer is about to perform a physical dump". Work computer "whiz" away on 1 month holiday. Can anyone tell me what's going on, please?
Also, at home every time my husband uses the mouse (cordless)he does something to it so that
1) He can't get it to do what he wants it to do and is inclined to be rough with it.
2) After he has used it, it won't work properly for anyone else (ie he is away for a week and it works perfectly, he comes home and uses it for one hour and it's shot).
Is it his biorhythms;) ?

I just returned my Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Optical after only three days because it was useless. To save power, it would go into power saving mode, and not wake up until after you had started moving it. Stupid damm thing.
What version of windows are you using? This may be the XP version of the "blue screen of death". It was blue, but with white, chunky letters.
My guess would be a hardware fault. Memory, or something like that going flaky.

My Logitech cordless mouse and keyboard have worked very nicely for 2 years now, until HE did something to it last week. Have cleaned the ball, but it's still not working properly, just won't go where it's told.
My windows at work is well before XP, can't remember off hand, but will check tomorrow.
By the way you're in Oz aren't you? Are you with bigpond and are you having problems?
Thanks for your response.

I am on swiftdsl, which uses Bigpond, and it is stuffed at the moment.
Have you cleaned the actual rollers the ball rolls against? They collect lint.

A physical dump involves writing the entire contents of RAM to a file. If this happens on a blue screen, it likely means that an error has occured. Restarting your computer should solve the problem.
As for the mouse, you could try resetting the orientation. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Mouse. Browse around for a button called "set orientation". It would help if you could describe the problem in more detail. When you move the mouse, what happens? Does the pointer go anywhere? Does it go in the wrong direction? Does it "stick" for a bit then jump around?
Do you have the original disk that came with you mouse on hand? You could try reinstalling the drivers.

I'll stick to my original assumption that the computer just wants to piss you off by performing the absolute least productive function it has in its repitiore of "annoying things computers do".

Look at it as 2 seperate problems for now.
1. Does it say anything else on the blue screen like " ICQ error" or "Unhanded exception" or "Fault In....." That is important.
2. When you clean the mouse, are you cleaning the black lint and tar rings off the roller's or just wiping the ball off, you have to really pry that stuff off with a paperclip sometimes.
