Just had to do it....I can just hear the 9/11 woo saying that JREF "shoved them to the back" and are opressing their civil rights. now from my standpoint....great split. Maybe now we can speak about real conspiracies and not dance on the graves of 3000.

It is a great idea. It is just going to be awhile until things are properly moved over. Until then I am still stuck on the 9-11 side.
It will be great to not have to weed through the 9-11 stuff, or have discussions of other CTs being buried by a dozen 9-11 threads before anyone gets a chance to actually see it.

I think this was a great split and I wanted to be the first to kitten this subforum but your avatar beat me to it. I think that was a conspiracy :)

I agree. West Virginia should rejoin with Virginia. North and South Dakota should unite.

Why even have a CT section? Haven't they all been debunked?
I say we turn this into the JREF Football Forum:D

Yeah, having to "weed" through it is tough. ****** hippies...:)
Actually, I don't see the point in doing a split. Seems the JREF forum has already become somewhat famous for 9/11 debunking, just like people would go to the BAUT forum for moon landing conspiracy stuff.

Well JREF will still be known for 9-11 debunking from my perspective, but at least it is easier to have threads discussing non-9-11 related conspiracies. Although, if you think about it all CT's connect with each other at some point; and so most topics here won't make it to the 5th page without being split into the 9-11 sub-forum.

I think that the split is a good thing. The non-9/11 conspiracy theories threads tended to get lost in the forest of the generic conspiracy theories sub-forum, and got short shrift as a result.
As I understand it, when the CT sub-forum was first created, that wasn't really a problem since it came about as a direct result of 9/11 conspiracy threads proliferating in the other sub-fora, but the reality is that the 9/11 CTs have lost their steam since then, thanks in no small part to the excellent debunking efforts of contributors here.
So, it seems appropriate to split it off to its own sub-sub-forum now that there is very little left to refute. Doing so also gives some respite to those who are interested in non-9/11 conspiracy theories but were turned off by having to wade through pages of it just to try to find the threads dedicated to their specific interests.
So, I say, "Good call, mods and admins!"

Open the announcement notice (http://forums.randi.org/announcement.php?f=91).
Now click on Darat's name and drag down to "Quote this post in a PM to Darat". See what comes up. It aint the post. It is nothing to do with Conspiracy Theories. He is deliberately exiling your PM to a meaningless humor thread. He doesn't want to discuss it. What more evidence of a conspiracy do you need?

it has good points and bad points, on the one hand it may present the notion that 9/11 is preferred, as it has its own dedicated section, but it could also mean the opposite, 9/11 is segregated from other theories, from a discussion POV its probably a bad thing, but from a forum management perspective its really the only viable choice

If North Carolina tries to merge with us, Fort Sumter will be back in business.

I don't think there's anything wrong with an occasional spliff..

I think it was my Leuchter thread that did it. His class was being cramped by being next to Alex Jones and co.

I think the split is a great idea and not before time. 9/11 went stagnant ages ago, so I'm interested to hear what new stuff the world of woo has to offer.
