After a bizarre act of vandalism toward books with gay and lesbian topics at the San Francisco Public Library, those books will be reborn as art. The 607 books were slashed in similar ways: the eyes and mouths were cut out of faces in almond-shaped gaps. Now, in a library project called Reversing Vandalism, those books will be turned into an art exhibit next spring.
