After reading Robert Lancaster's latest and greatest knock on Sylvia Browne I have come to the conclusion she is after Godlike status and is nothing more than a cult leader. She is nothing different than Dr. Moon she just doesn't send her followers to the local airports or door to door. Think about it she has these shows and those followers that just never give up on her no matter what the evidence is against her.

Of course, isn't it obvious that Sylvia Browne has ego issues, and being the founder of a great church gives her a Godlike status to her fans.
Read pro-Sylvia websites and blogs (note to Sylvia: there is a difference between websites and blogs.), they refer to her as "Our Dear Sylvia", and such idolistic words, all of which she doesn't discourage.
Go to one of her lecutres or book signings and watch how people gush and fawn all over her. Semi-intelligent people become babeling idots in her presence, and Sylvia and her band of merry men eat it up, all the while making fun of the idiots acting like idiots.

Your correct but I am having the feeling this is less about psychic ability and more about her obtaining power thru cult status. Just like the idiotic Dr Moon who starts his own church, Sylvia is trying to obtain the God like power and just like the moonies of old she does have the power to make her followers follow and theres no doubt she awares of it!

Of course, the act of being a psychic is just a means to gather people to her, and a means to control them.
If one had money, then Sylvia would tell them that they would be one of her ministers, one of her hyptonists, and these people would then spend the thousands of dollars required to do so.
Plus Francine would come through in "trance" and elevate Sylvia by making claims about her greatness, her mission for God, who she was in past lives, and other junk in order to influence those in the room.
I will give Sylvia this; she was smart enough to con many, many people into giving her money, but she doesn't have the means to keep those people under her control forever.

She's trying to be a Messiah...another prophet like Mohammed or Buddha...her followers refer to her readings and her trances as holy events; talking a ghost over to the other side, babbling in pseudo-Aramaic, and doing any little thing Sylvia tells you to do is a sacrament. They believe her to be a "spiritual leader", like Ghandi. A signed book, a picture, any keepsake is given holy relic status by her believers...all the while saying that Sylvia's church is anti-religion and anti-dogma.
