View Full Version : BO'R on the warpath

Our dear friend O'Reilly is on the warpath.
"...there are 18 books out now that accuse President Bush of being the worst guy since Ghengis Khan. Most of these tomes are written by fanatical left-wingers, and, unfortunately, much of the information is defamatory and foolish, and we all thought Bill Clinton had it bad.
Certainly, President Bush is worthy of criticism, as is any president. But it's interesting to see just where these books are selling, and that is primarily in the independent bookstores and on amazon.com. But they die a gory death in Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Costco, and other big retailers, while my book Who's Looking Out for You? does great in those places. Of course, Who's Looking? is not a political book and smears no one. So my conclusion is that the regular folks are turning away from the political nonsense, but the angry left is hot on it.
In the end, somebody's going to win this book war, and it would be ridiculous if it's one of those hate vehicles."
Is O'Reilly pissed about this:
HARDCOVER NONFICTION
Top 5 at a Glance
1. LIES (AND THE LYING LIARS WHO TELL THEM), by Al Franken
2. WHO'S LOOKING OUT FOR YOU? by Bill O'Reilly
Also, why didn't O'Reilly complain about the far right hate books from Coulter, Savage and the like? I also like how O'Reilly picks and chooses which outlets sell to "real" people. He's just mad that he is not #1 and Franken is.

Of course, what Bill spouts isn't "political nonsense" at all

Isn't it interesting how regular folks always seem to agree with BO'Re? Amazing that.
Of course, Who's Looking? is not a political book and smears no one.

May I remind our dear American friends that what is called "fanatical left-wingers" are actually considered quite conservative in Europe. :)

Considering the fact that Europe has spent most of its existence mired in tyranny and oppression, that doesn’t surprise me.

Someone remind me where democracy was invented?

Okay, explain this to me--and this goes for the entire "talk show" thingy.
Once upon a time, "talk show" hosts--CERTAINLY those who were doing it on news channels--actually knew that they are journalists; that is, they GIVE people news, they don't MAKE news.
That meant that when they interviewed, say, a senator or a president, or an expert in some field, they asked him questions and let HIM answer them. Yes, the senator or expert could turn out to be talking nonsese, but that was up to the VIEWER to decide, not for the interviewer to claim on the air.
Just WHEN the hell did these TV anchors like O'Reilly and the rest of the pundits get the idea that THEIR personal views about anything is anybody's business?!
I don't know, but ever since then, the whole genre of so-called "news talk shows" has gone downhill. Ever since that trend started, the INTERVIEWER'S OPINION became the real news, while the interviewee's expert views became a mere nuisance, a 15-second sound-bite on which the interviewer can talk for five minutes.
If they could, I'd bet O'Reilly and co. would get rid of the annoying requirement to actually have someone to talk to on their show, and just rant non-stop for an hour.
God, I can't stand those self-important f---ers.

I don't think Europe could lay claim to the invention of feudalism. Communism itself is not oppressive, it was snapped up by dictators who rule under the pretext of Communism- a point lost on many ill-educated Americans. Quite right about facism. But in which country can you go to jail for nine months for selling bongs? Certainly not the Netherlands, and I doubt Denmark or the UK.

Hey bigot, communism is oppressive. Id be happy to see any evidence you have to the contrary. Name a communist country that allowed freespeech, free thought and individual rights. Hell!! name a communism country that didnt kill a substantial amount of its population.

I can't find anything that says Cuba killed a substantial amount of its population. That could say more about my Googling skills than anything.
Oh, and you say Europe spent most of its history mired in tyranny and oppression, but I'm the bigot?

I guess to PC nazis it's considered bigotry to bring up historical fact.

Oh, and speaking of tyranny and oppression, have any of those held at Guantanamo Bay been told what they've been charged with yet? Any access to legal advice? Just curious.

You wouldn't know a historical fact if it came up to you in a suit of armour and stuck a pike in your butt.

Anybody want to put this in the "Tony's sig" thread?
Out of curiosity, when has it been proven in a court of law that the people held at Guantanamo Bay are terrorists?
For someone who cares about individual liberty, you're awfully forgiving.
As Shanek would be proud for me to note: The Bill of Rights is a restriction on our government, not a liberty granted to US citizens.

Dodge what? You made a typically Tontarded comment. I don't have the time nor the inclination to rebut sweeping statements, especially ones as nonsensical as yours.
It's not even as if America's hands are clean in the tyrannical oppression stakes. There are, after all, European nations that can claim not to have had slavery in the last 300 years.

Translation: I’m too stupid and lazy to try to come up with a valid rebuttal, so I’m just going to make ad hom attacks.
