I had followed the Enzyte trials and have woke up repeatedly to the new ExtenZe infomercials. ExtenZe boasts some scientific studies, and an institute, and a doctor, blah blah blah.
I found some documentation on the studies on-line and they were such complete here-be-dragon loaded crap that I felt like e-mailing Dunning directly. He has posted his address here. Anyhow... The scientific study of both of these "drugs" hedge their evidence of their major claim that is increasing penis size by stating that it is too difficult to obtain consistent measurements. Measurement data was left completely out in both cases. Shocking. The ingredients are nearly identical, and so are the studies. One company is involved in fraud, and the other is not, yet.
I believe that Ron Jeremy has already fallen on the sword for ExtenZe before the new doctor picked it up. The new doctor has a wealth of plastic non-surgury products on the market.
I swear that I also saw an infomercial for Kinoki foot pads, where they claimed to reduce lead and mercury content in the blood in scientific tests. They had graphs, and lab coats to prove it, but I never found this study to be documented anywhere, and in fact, they don't seem to make these claims in places where they could be documented without a TiVo.
If you are still with me, then I think that what I need is a Skeptiod article telling me what to do now. If it were up to me, there would be a skepdic, JREF, or skeptoid database where I could complain to many many people in charge. We get the subtle bad argument part now, but what about the egregious lies?
I saw a news piece the other day about the sweaty dude that can magnetize himself to make silverware stick to his body, and I e-mailed the station to tell them that a little talc powder would make the use of more expensive equipment unnecessary in disproving his claims. I do this when I can. The results are as expected.
Please Brian, Randi, and all else that are here ...
What do we do about the blantant lies that have been a bane of the internet and infomercials for YEARS???
Someone in the goverment of various countries has to be responsive to the hundreds of e-mails and phone calls that this community can bring to bear for the likes of Gary Trudeu.
Tell us what to do now.
Please
Bob
