I think it's good to remember that more people than just left wing civilians are against this war. People in the military have families that care and love them. I remember one admiral saying at a ship launching that this ship would have a successful life if it never fired a shot in combat (it soon did in Lebanon). They proudly serve the rest of us, so I guess it's up to us to make sure any war is worth it.
Playing with Aunt Kittys toy(not me, my sister's toy- aka Kitty2)..and now keeping our fingers crossed.

I'm not sure how to respond because I'm not exactly certain what your point is. I agree with your first statement but I'm not certain as to what to conclude from the second two. As to the third, Sherman was right and war is hell. It destroys lives and families. Of those that aren't killed or maimed many will be emotionally scarred for life. War should not be an endeavor that we enter into lightly.
Those who were against the invasion of Iraq and or who are against the current American military presence in Iraq and the fighting there are not unpatriotic for voicing their disagreement. On the contrary, I would argue that it would be unpatriotic to sit silent.
That being said it would be wrong to assume a single POV for the military and their family members.
It is perfectly appropriate to use the events of Iraq for political purposes by those who oppose George Bush. In the end though I hope the decisions as to how to best proceed in Iraq aren't based largely on politics.
