An interesting question arose on a blog I was reading regarding a pharmacist not dispensing birth control because of their religious beliefs. The blogger said:

"How about as an atheist or non christian your caregiver declines to contact your priest for last rites because it doesn’t jive with their beliefs*? "

*I would have wrote non-beliefs.
I thought she had a point..."I don’t fill prescriptions at your church, don’t preach in my pharmacy!"

You know what's really messed up about that pharmacist thing? Many women take birth control pills for reasons other than birth control, specifically for regulating periods and getting cramps under control.

Indeed - and the blogger notes that. It's not just about birth control - it's about health and dealing with womens issues beyond procreating.

Cramps suck!

One of those issues that makes me wonder why most pharmacists couldn't be replaced by a pill dispensing machine.
