http://www.prisonplanet.com/has-the-new-batman-plundered-its-plot-from-911.html

I just knew this type of article was going to come up, but even though it is featured on Prison Planet it is actually from the London Times.

My question is...have we reached the point to where every time a movie has a terroristic villain we are going to have idiots comparing it to 9-11?

Also have we reached a point in which any condemnation of terrorist actions in media will immediately be labeled as propaganda? Correct me if I am wrong, as a Batman fan for 20 years, but hasn't the Joker engaged in terror for his long career?

Is there anything that is outside the realm of comparison to 9-11?

The Batman fan in me is just shaking his head now.

The Joker has always been an anarchist, although he does love the attention and fear from others. Trying to say the Joker being all crazy and psychotic is some new idea influenced by 9/11 tells me these idiots have been living under a rock.

I stopped reading after this bit:

"The imagery here is blatant: firefighters framed in tableau against the smouldering rubble of Downtown; politicians cashing in on the paranoia; bound hostages used to relay demands on television; the extraordinary rendition of a foreign suspect; a crusade against an “evildoer” that turns more personal vendetta than reasoned response."

Since very little of that actually took place in the film, it is apparent that the person writing this article didn't actually see it.

ETA: If anything, this film is propaganda for 9/11 conspiracy theorists, particularly those that believe in a controlled demolition hypothesis, as personified in the Joker and his ability to wire large structures with explosives without being seen nor the explosives noticed until they detonate.

Kittens and rainbows...?

That sounds like a job for ConspiRaider or JimBenArm! If anyone can come up with a hilarious and humorous response to that, it is one of them. :D

I just got back from seeing the Dark Knight and personally I did think that the part where Batman and others call the Joker a terrorist was kind of a throwback to the War on Terrorism and good triumphing over terrorism, but is that a bad thing? The Spider Man movie also did the same thing, even going further as to having New Yorkers throwing rocks at the Green Goblin. I thought it was a positive message if anything. Does Alex Jones believe there are really no terrorists in the world seeking to kill innocents?

Something that did strike me though was the fact that the World Trade Center appears twice in the trailer for a movie I think called the Watchmen, once at night and once during the day. The movie doesn't seem to have anything to do with 9/11, so I have no idea what the point of that was.

And yeah, when the Joker blew up the hospital, I was reminded of the WTC controlled demolition theories, even though that probably wasn't anyone's intention.

So what did Alex Jones think of Fight Club? :boxedin:

No other point than historical accuracy. Watchmen takes place in the late 80s.

What I find suspicious is that we never see Catwoman and NWO kitty together. Think about it!;)

Edit: Ok...so she's not in this movie...but it's still suspicious.

The Troofers were going nuts about that image about 9-10 months ago. I know I posted about it on SLC back then because I am a huge Batman fan--I have read every Batman story published before 1970 and most of those published since. But I'll be damned if I can find the link right now.

ETA: Have not seen the movie yet; I'm sorta dreading it because I know it will highlight the negative/obsessive aspects of Bruce rather than the dedicated, hard-working.

I'm not going to read because I doubt Prison Planet is decent enough to use spoiler warnings.

I think it would be fair to claim the film is influenced by 9/11; events of that nature have a way of permeating culture so that subconsciously anything remotely connected is influenced by it.

However it's a bit boring to hear idiots try claim every film that gets made is some sort of intentional government paranoia.

I loved it when the resident head moron of Iran tried to claim the 2500 year old story of the Battle of Thermopylae was anti-Iranian propaganda when 300 came out.

Is hollywood just preparing us for when the real batman is unveiled? Are they simply preparing us for when Gothem city is attacked for real?

The WTC buildings in particular were a major part of pop culture (http://screwloosechange.blogspot.com/2007/02/more-proof-of-troof.html) even before 9-11. I find it interesting that both the original Spiderman film from the 1970s and the first Toby Maguire Spiderman trailer both featured the WTC. But it's not that surprising because pop culture has always featured larger than life locales--think of the climaxes of North By Northwest or King Kong.

I don't click on links to prisonplanet because they are always, without exception, complete and utter crap, so I am not sure what you're referring to. Reading between the lines, I'll add this: any rational individual or legitimate entity whom Alex Jones might disparage on his nonsensical, stupid, unfounded, ridiculous and illegitimate website is likely to disregard anything and everything that the moron publishes as the complete and utter crap that it is.

He is not worth giving a second thought to. Paying him attention is what he craves, after all, so I won''t and never have. Plus, it is quite unlikely that he has any attachable assets anyway.

Not sure, how much fuel does a flying bat (which it had to be, since you geniuses think crashes make Wile E. Coyote-type holes which leave a perfect imprint of the object that hit it) carry?

Trick question. Everyone knows that giant flying bats are nuclear powered.

I saw Batman: The Dark Night over the weekend and I liked this quote from Morgan Freeman's character, Lucius Fox:

Let me get this straight. You think that your employer, one of the richest men in the world, is spending his nights running around the city beating criminals to a pulp with his bare hands? And your plan is to blackmail him? Good luck with that.

I think it's funny in how some people just don't seem to think things through to their logical end . . . just like most conspiracy theorists.

Yes. Dark Knight is the last film he finished before his death last year.

My fiance and me busted up on that one. I agree, it descibes the CT'ist perfectly.

Haha, I thought the exact same thing!

It is interesting how this 9/11 debate has shaped my thinking. While this Batman fan of 20 years is enjoying The Dark Knight: The IMAX Experience in surround sound, the only thing I could think of when the hospital was blowing up is: "How did they stick the explosives at every corner of the hospital without hundreds of people noticing?"
