Or something.

{shrug}
Truthers remind me of the T.S. Elliot poem The Hollow Men
We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats’ feet over broken glass
In our dry cellar

Wow!
In the first paragraph:
A recent dispute between the prominent 9/11 activist, Kevin Barrett, and me, the founder of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, has led to the presentation of what I take to be five of the strongest, if not the strongest, arguments for video fakery on 9/11. Indeed, having spent 35 years teaching logic, critical thinking and scientific reasoning, I would describe them as "decisive" in establishing the complicity of the media in misleading the American people about the events of that day. It is a sad commentary on the state of freedom of the press that we now have overwhelming evidence that the mass media – television, in particular – was crucial to the deception.
(bolding mine)
Sooooo....he can claim to have taught logic, critical thinking and scientific reasoning, yet Uncle Fetzer seems totally incapable of putting any of them into practice.:boggled:

It's a shame to see a man disintegrate so publicly. Fetzer needs to take a walk. (http://www.alz.org/memorywalk/)

And, in particular, the ending.
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.
Or, even better, Stellafane's version from a couple of days ago:
This is the way the Truther world ends
This is the way the Truther world ends
This is the way the Truther world ends
Not with a bang...and not with a whimper
Or a controlled demolition
Or televised revolution
Or rich big time movie contracts
Or chased by blonde babes with big racks
Or some kudos from Avery
Or Alex Jones presidency
Or a thousand fans on your lawn --
Just one last chuckle, then a yawn.

Fetzer was moving into the Bizarro World of the no-planers over a year ago when he appeared on 'Hardfire' with Mark and me.

He's a longstanding conspiracy nut. He also believes the JFK conspiracy fantasies, the RFK conspiracy fantasies, the Marilyn Monroe conspiracy fantasies, etc. In other words, he's just another run of the mill conspiracy loon, and has been for many years.

Climbing aboard the no-planer bandwagon after one has gone death-ray-from-space whacko is rather anti-climactic, isn't it?

"Barrett, who is running for Congress in Wisconsin's 3rd District as an Independent Libertarian"
Uh? ... No... did I read that right?
ETA: I also like this bit:
"Video fakery and no planes are not the same thing, since, although the planes must have been present if the videos were authentic, they might or might not have been present if the videos are fake"
He taught logic, critical thinking and science reasoning did he? :boggled:

He is running as an indepedent Libertarian...which means that the Libertarian Party does not want anything to do with him.
I agree the Libertarians have some bizarre ideas, but they are not total nutjobs like Barett.

Notice how when it becomes apparent they are getting no place with the American public, the nuttier members of the Truther movement are taking control?
It says something about the Truthers that LIHOP (although it's silly and totally without any proof) is more probable then MIHOP, and does not involve the incredible idiocies of Controlled Demolition and the flight 93 theories, has always been hugely less popular in the movement then MIHOP.

I think we need another acronym for the no-planers. Since according to them the planes didn't exist, "they" didn't really "make it happen", they "made believe it to happen". But MBITHOP sounds awful.

There's either a math or baking joke in there...

As Ron said, Fetzer has been with the Keebler Elf and her crew for well over a year now. He has been abandoned by the center of the truther group, as fringe, like Balsamo and CIT.

Fetzer's published books on the philosophy of science; that is, he should know his away around a sensible argument.
It really is rather tragic to watch a long, slow descent into lunacy.

I submit that any rational mind considering the evidence presented here should similarly conclude that video fakery took place in New York and that there is a very strong possibility that the planes were an illusion.
"Tragic." "Hilarious." Wouldn't be the first time we quibbled over semantics, my friend. :D

Guys,
What more evidence do we need that the Truth Movement is dead or dying?
When it comes down to it, many Truthers are clambering to anyone who is still publishing or active in the cause--no matter how ridiculous the theories are. I swear, if DRG publishes a book that claims that Heath Ledger was behind the attacks then Fetzer would claim that "everyone would be impressed by Griffin's scrupulous research."
What I love about Fetzer's Hardfire debate, and a radio debate that I participated in a couple of weeks ago (should be online soon) is how Truthers will disregard ridiculous theories and yet totally praise the individual who posited them. As how Fetzer dismissed beam weapons (if memory serves), and yet praised and defended Judy Woods. And as how my opponent in the debate believed that dozens of witnesses saw a plane hitting the Pentagon, but believed that all of these No-Plane Pentagon theories must still be answered.

I hate to defend Barrett, but his statement is not incoherent. If the videos are authentic, then the planes must indeed have been present. We can all get behind that one. If the videos were fakes, however, there still might have been real planes.
It's something like the blind squirrel finding a nut.
