I wish I went to this summer camp -- it would have saved me a few years of personal research.

ahem... some us don't have "members"-- we procreate using alternative equipment.

Why are so many people black or white? Reading about this camp I see it again. I know lots of people who support modern science and also believe in some higher being they call God.
It always seems to me that that people are categorized in two extremes. Either you are a smart cold Dawkins atheist, or you are an idiot Jesus follower.
What about all those people who believe science is the right method, yet would like the idea there is some more in this universe. Or who are christians, but don't believe everything in that old book? You can ignore most of the bible, yet still feel some comfort from it's message of love and sacrifice. Even if it's based on fantasy it is still a good core message, you just have to get rid of all the cultural nonsense like 3000 year old food rules.

You missed my point but I like your thinking ;)

If you listened to the story you would have heard that it isn't proselytizing atheism but teaching critical thinking. I know it is hard for believers to differentiate at times, but there is a difference.

Way to get people to look at the thread! I think CFI has a good idea here. The churches get them when they're young...why shouldn't critical thinkers?

My impression is that this is not so much a critical thinking camp as "Atheist Camp".
Which is fine, of course, and I support the idea. But it should just call itself what it is.
It would be interesting to actually set up a camp for skepticism or critical thinking. Teach some proper magic tricks, break some bricks with their heads, firewalk, levitate with fingers, photograph some orbs, make some spirit photos, turn a few tables, attend a seance with the lights on. Manage some debates. That sort of thing.

Did you mean to say "bait and swish"? Because if so, it sounds pretty much like the summer camp I went to when I was a kid. Lots of fishing during the day.

Hey! You know you can't get any play with the "A" word! We're just a bunch of grouchy nay-sayers...wait...let me think critically about that!
Your ideas about "fun" at the skeptical camp sounded awesome!
