Well, we aren't supposed to trash the great ' KRKEY ' debates, so I thought we could come over here in our underwear ( I'm actually wearing sweat pants and a ' Cool Dad ' T-shirt, circa 1996 ) and drink our beer.. ( actually a shot of Cuervo with a dash of Orange Curacao for me... )
( rubs hands together, takes a sip of my Devils brew )... I can't wait for this thing to get started, it should be a riot..
What's crazy so far, is that krkey has shown no evidence of knowing what he sayeth.. I trust it is some kind of intellectual ' Rope-A-Dope ' and we will be richly rewarded in the tradition of samhainfire and Does scientific rigity lead to false negatives (http://www.randi.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10090)
Wait! Wait! We weren't richly rewarded..
But maybe this time it will be different....
So, anyway, why don't we gather over here to comment, go off on tangents as the need arises, and see if we can keep the clutter out of the great debate...

I'm fully dressed (striped T-shirt, track suit pants) as the internet cafes from where I post object to me sitting in my underwear. And I haven't any beer, I usually just stop off at a bar for two drinks after I log off and then drink. I envy the folk who can sit at home in their underwear and sip their beer while posting, but at least they don't get to have passer-bys stare at them through a window!

I'm having a Bell's Pale Ale, wearing shorts and a t-shirt. When is this thing starting anyway? I'm expecting no less than Godzilla -Mothra. Or Ali-Frazier.
Oh well, the World Series rain delay is over.

There is a rumor that krkey has entered the building..
I understand he is doing a little ' speed-bag ' work....
Of course, Yaweh may have missed the bus today, so that could push things out a bit...

I'm fully dressed. And I have my Tea, Coffee, Milk.
I might however resolve to alcohol should the debate involve (im-)materialism.

I'm all anticipation here, but what exactly is being debated? That the scriptures taken by themselves prove the resurrection, or that they show that the resurrection is more likely than some sort of fakery?
It's gonna take a heap o beer.

Grab your seats!
First come first serve.... The waitstaff will be along shortly...
While we're waiting, it just occurred to me, I'm not aware of any really funny stuff in the bibe; as opposed to stuff that can be made fun of.
I'ts all so serious.. No pause for knock-knock jokes or " A Samaritan and a Levite walk into a bar..... "
I have heard that some of Jesus' parables would have been real knee slappers, but only in the original Aramaic, and you would have had to grown up in the neighborhood.. They lost something in translation..
Are there any good Greek stand-ups, that you know of? What is the source of their material?

Aristophanes is funny and Lysistrata is pornographic - a winner on two counts.

I demand satisfaction and will not rest until the beer is flowing!

So says my impeccable historical source, Eco's The Name of the Rose.

Not to sober up this thread or anything, but...
I just wanted to say that since Diogenes at least accepted my offer to judge this debate, I will not be posting anything more to this particular board until the debate is over, which I expect will be in a reasonable timeframe.
I would also admonish both participants to stay on topic, and that pointing out that an opponent's argument is off-topic is considered a valid refutation of that argument.
I better stick to club soda for this.

Make mine the darkest beer you have on tap. If I can see light through it, I'm sending it back.
Lord Emsworth--I'd gladly debate materialism...but only after several of them there light-blockers...

Remember that link he posted as a near fit to his beliefs? The apologist rant that said that most skeptics learned a few fallacies and went to town? I am thinking that that kind of attitude will invalidate whatever jurisdiction you wish to lay down. I'm betting my undies that krkey will claim you are biased or unfit to judge in 20 posts or less.

As anyone that has read my postings on this board over the last year can attest to, I am not at all in the hard-skeptic camp. I am, if anything, in the devil's-advocate camp. I can argue either side if called to it.
I know the value - and it is high - of an in-context quote from an authority on a subject. Krkey and Yahweh do too; I know Krkey does because they have been the meat of his arguments so far, and I know Yahweh does because he is on his school's debate team. We may be the only three people on this board who don't automatically dismiss it as an "appeal to authority" fallacy, because it isn't. (http://www.datanation.com/fallacies/aa.htm)
Like I said in another post, I'm not going to base a decision on who convinces me. I'm going to base a decision on who is more convincing.
I'm the fairest ear Krkey's likely to get here, outside of Suddenly. And I don't think Suddenly's interested in the position.

Most recently krkey has said that In the end no matter how well I do in the end it is up to the person to accept the apostles were truthful and correct about what happened on easter sunday.
It just reminded me of a time, about 25 years ago, when I was supposed to bear witness against somebody who mugged me (a polite way of saying "was one of two guys who beat the bejeebers out of me"). I was ready to swear on a stack of bibles (and this was back when I was a born-again christian) that this guy who was standing trial was the guy who made sure I ate my meals through a straw for a week. How could anyone mistake an orange afro and goatee? (Hey, it was 25 years ago, he probably thought it was stylish.) Turns out it was the wrong case--they brought in my guys a bit later...there was a certain resemblance...
So the crux of krkey's argument is going to be eyewitness testimony from 2,000 years ago? Heck, I thought I was "truthful and correct", and it was something that had happened to me only a few weeks prior...let's take the years that lapsed before the writing of the gospels, and ...well...
Who's buying, again?

Dont worry, I dont feel patronized. I didnt expect an opening statement that would take days to write, oh well, while I am plenty confident in my debating skills, all my free time in invested into procrastinating my school work.
In the mean time, I'll grab myself a Capri Sun.
(Here is an image of a rough draft of what I am writing debate... that is the Negative side, now I have to write the Affirmative side... yeah, its time consuming...)
