IMO, and this is just speculation, he safely ejected, was captured, and interrogated. When the Gulf War ended and the US didn't request his return, he was executed.

Sorry...I agree, AC. The "I don't know/I don't care" choice should be separated into two different choices.

I vote KIA.
Just because he had a successful ejection doesn't mean he lived through his capture. I mean...pissed off Iraqi's might have shot at him as he was floating down....or fell on him like a pack of dogs after he hit the ground.
I think it's likely the Iraqi's had orders to collect downed airmen alive....the commander of Iraqi troops that killed a downed airman might not have liked his chances in having to explain himself and his troops to Saddam. They'd have hid his body and forgotten about it....don't ask...don't tell.
If so, it might come out in the aftermath of the coming war.
at least I hope so.
