Are there any skeptical events in Las Vegas the week of Sept. 7-11? I'm there for a conference, and thought it was worth asking.

Well, I know there are skeptics who live in or near Vegas; I suppose I was irrationally hopeful.

Those palaces on and off The Strip are NOT monuments to critical thinking or skepticism.

I'll miss you by a couple of weeks. We could have been skeptical together...

And at least one of the local skeptics is currently on suspension, which could account for the thundering silence.

That makes two forumites I'll miss by just a bit this trip.


I had noticed the suspension, but was hoping there was more than one of them about.


Alas, it appears I shall have to console myself with drinking and carousing. Again. :(:D

Sorry, Horatius. Normally I'd be all over a spur of the moment Vegas weekend, but between trying to buy a house and losing my job, now's a bad time.

Yeah, actually there was a big skeptical event in Las Vegas on September 10th. Sam Harris debated Dinesh D'Souza in the Skyrise Tower meeting room at the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino. You didn't hear about that? Seriously? Wow. Sorry, man. It was fantastic! Quite the lively Q&A after--they even had to call in security!

I thought everyone knew.

Try the Las vegas Atheist Meetup group (http://atheists.meetup.com/30/).
I gave a talk for them back in June just after TAM6 and some of them were at TAM6.
