Happy F***ing Halloween, Sinner! (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0032/0032_01.asp)
Remember kids, it doesn't matter how good you are in life, if you don't accept the church's dogm... I mean, doctrine, you will go to HELL! <h1>HELL!</h1> <h1>HEEEEELLLLLLL!!!</h1>

I think I will start believing in Jesus so that I may kill with impunity.

::flipflipflip:: My dictionary says they are synonyms. Hm.

I meant doctrine in the sense 'a body of principles' (cf "Monroe Doctrine"), though looking in the ol' Oxford Shorter it doesn't seem like there's a lot of difference between the two.
But just to be crystal clear, in this post I meant:
Doctrine: body of principles (a system of beliefs, tenents)
Dogma: a belief based on a priori assumptions rather than empirical evidence.
I chose dogma for the negative because it has a fantaical flavour to it, which doesn't seem to be recognised by the dictionary, whereas doctrine is a word more likely to be used by the spin doctors (since it evokes political images like the above-mentioned Monroe Doctrine).
Thus endeth the linguistics lesson.

That is one horrific and ludicrous tract. How sad that I once bought that garbage hook, line and sinker. What sort of a God sends "good people" to burning pit of fire? Ahh....madness!!!

Or allows mass murderers into heaven, just so long as they say the magic words "I believe in Jesus!"

Relax Mr Manifesto. Life is good despite all sorts of bad stuff, among which Jack Chick is no more than a minor irritation. Even most fundies find him an embarrassment.
Ever read Big Daddy (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0055/0055_01.asp) his anti-evolution tract?
I especially like the nasty little goatee on the professor.

Big Daddy has been around for centuries. When I was in high school, some freak was handing around the pamphlett.
Evolution isn't possible because the Piltdown Man was a fake! Unlike the Shroud of Turin which was... erm...

Quite so. This one makes precisely that point:

Does Richard Boon know his likeness has been used in a Jack Chick comic?

So, I don't understand, they hung the guy because he found Jesus? That seems so counter intuitive...

They hanged him because he was a killer and thus deserved to hang. It's the American way, and a good thing in my opinion.
But because the killer had found Jesus he went straight to Heaven, so the sheriff actually did him a favor.
The sheriff who was bitten by a snake went to Hell. No Jesus, you see.
You may disagree with me about the death penalty, but at least we live in the same universe. Aren't you glad you don't live in the universe that Jack Chick thinks we live in?

Are you sure? IT sure seemed to me that the subtext was he got hanged because he found Jesus...
but then, I may just be intentionally dense. ;)

Hmmm...I wonder if a church could boost attendance (at least among males) by advertising that one would be hung once he accepted Jesus.

No Chick related thread is complete without a link to a parody page (www.weirdcrap.com/chick/). Though to be honest, he's tracts border on parody themselves.

A good site, but none of the parodies are as funny as the originals.
Jack Chick is what he is.

I can't believe Timmy is dead! Why didn't Lassie save him like she did when he fell down the well?
