Do they, or DON'T they?

Let's find out. I say that Mandy Moore is one of the hottest things on two legs (that lucky Andy Roddick).:rub:(She's on the cover of my tv listings guide this week...and she was on a late night talk show just 2? days ago)

I go through the wedding section of our paper and I look at the couples and am constantly saying, "What the heck does that guy see in HER" (and vice-versa).

Yet, what is odd, is that when a lot of people are polled as to who they think is the cutest or handsomest of the bunch, they pick them same few (out of a crowd). Yet, these very people are married to someone who doesn't even resemble those that they picked (as being some cutie, handsome). And I can't figure out what made them marry who they did, instead of holding out until they go the person of their dreams. (Now I've gotten off the subject a bit...but that's o.k.)

Mandy Moore? Nope, not attractive at all to me. Angelina Jolie or Eliza Dushku much more my speed. I think that there are widely differing opinions on personal attractiveness. My girlfriends and I are constantly shocked by who we each find attractive. There are times when we find each other’s choices repulsive even. And a couple of months ago there was a TV show – the fugliest men in either music or entertainment, I don’t remember which, but there were quite a few men listed as fugly in that program that I thought were hot. It really is all in the eye of the beholder.

Regarding your comments about “marrying the person of your dreams,” I can only assume that you are KIDDING!? What in the world does physical appearance have to do with a marriage? A serious relationship has to have some physical attraction, of course, but that is by no means even the 4th or 5th most important thing. I think that Colin Ferrell is unbelievably gorgeous, but he’s a jerk, and I wouldn’t want to be married to him.

Most people aren’t beautiful, and I think that society is getting a very unhealthy view of what people should look like. Even celebrities aren’t as beautiful as they appear to be because we always see them after hours of makeup and styling and ultimately in an extensively touched-up picture. Appearance just shouldn’t be that important unless you’re picking a partner for a one-night-stand.

Of course people see the same things differently. They're bound by their opinions and caught up in themselves.
