OK, let me take this in good faith, and accept Tucker's assertion that he based his claim not on Obama's stated plans, but "that's what he's always done in the past."

I guess I am ignorant here, but can someone speak for Tucker and educate me on Obama's past actions that are consistent with a goal of "raising taxes on the middle class"?

Tucker claims the goal is implied by his actions. I'm just curious if he could tell us what those actions are.

Fox News will do anything for love, but it won't do that. ;)

I took on your challenge, then got lost in the morass of Congressionalese and gave up. :)

However, I did find some interesting stuff.

Here's a story about Fox actually perpetuating the "300+ votes for raising taxes for the middle class" story: http://www.newshounds.us/2008/02/26/fox_claims_a_new_report_says_obama_raised_taxes_30 0_times_while_in_the_illinois_state_senate_guest_d an_cronin_ril_turns_into_a_blithering_idiot_trying _to_back_it_up.php

And here is Project Vote Smart's listing of all proposals Senator Obama voted on (or didn't): http://www.votesmart.org/voting_category.php?can_id=9490

And finally, one of the proposals that Obama voted in favor of, but was turned down by the Congress: http://www.votesmart.org/issue_keyvote_detail.php?cs_id=V3715&can_id=9490

a snippet from that proposal:
To reinstate for millionaires a top individual income tax rate of 39.6 percent, the pre-May 2003 rates of tax on capital gains and dividends, and to repeal the reduction and termination of the phase out of personal exemptions and overall limitation on itemized deductions, until the Federal budget deficit is eliminated.

If anyone wants to wade through all the other stuff he voted on, feel free to and post your findings here!

Hey, thanks for the effort! It's clearly more than those claiming he wants to raise taxes on the middle class have done.

Actually, I think I've heard about that "voted 300 times to raise taxes" thing. Of course it is BS for the most part (there could be some votes to raise taxes in there, although how many of them are for the middle class is a different question).

ETA: Now that I think about it, that was actually a claim about John Kerry that I heard ripped to shreds. It's just being trotted out again in this election cycle.
