Don't you just love how conspiracy theorists will rip on anyone else for being "slaves" and "shills" and "sheeple" and being in general subservient to The ManTM...while at the same time you get the impression that all they ever do is post on Internet forums?
Throughout history, people who felt that they were being oppressed took real action. Martin Luther King took real action. Gandhi took real action. Susan Anthony took real action. The founders of the United States itself took real action.
Idiots, who know nothing about economics or politics but pretend that they do, make up ideas of pure stupidity, like the NWO, Illuminati, Holocaust Denial, and thermite, without evidence. They have no evidence; it is completely made up. In some cases they even flat-out admit that they have no evidence. It is faith, not logic. And yet, these very same people cry "SHEEP!" when someone DARES call them on it. You are a sheep, because you refuse to believe in made-up crap without evidence.
And, what do they do about it? Aside from spamming forums and chatrooms with links to debunked Youtube "documentaries", absolutely nothing.
Now, let me clarify my position here. I would be fine with them doing absolutely nothing. It's understandable if you believe in a powerful NWO, you might be afraid of doing anything to fight back. Fear is natural and understandable. What bothers me, however, is the hypocrisy. I don't mind them doing absolutely nothing, what I mind is those same people accusing others of being "sheep" or "slaves" or whatever for not fighting the NWO. The same people, who do nothing but post on Internet all day long, calling people "sheep".
I believe this is due to a combination of two things.
--One, they hate The Man. They are rebellious emo-type kids, most of them not more than 16 years old, who have a disdain for all forms of authority and will look for any excuse to rebel.
--Two, they have no evidence for any of their ideas. NWO, Illuminati**, mind control, FEMA camps, mandatory RFID, moon hoax, Holocaust denial, thermite, holograms, controlled demolition--all of them completely made up. There is no evidence, and they even admit that they have no evidence. Most of the time, this admittance is subtle and probably subconscious: for instance, ask an NWO believer for his evidence, and you can bet your life savings that he will, instead of showing you evidence, tell you to "do your own research" because "the evidence is out there" and yell at you for not "opening your eyes". This is a subtle, subconscious way of saying "I have no evidence, but please ignore that". Sometimes, however, they will actually OPENLY admit that their ideas are completely evidence-free. The justification for this is generally some sort of convoluted "better-safe-than-sorry" argument, although they never explain how you're supposed to fight something that might not actually exist.
--And between those two factors, this bizarre behavior is born. These dark, evil conspiracies MUST exist, in order for the CTist's worldview to make sense and in order for the CTist to feel special and worth something. To paraphrase Voltaire: if the NWO didn't exist, it would be necessary (for CTists) to invent it. But at the same time, deep down, they know there is no evidence that any of these conspiracies exist. How can you fight something that doesn't exist? Answer: you can't. The result is that CTists spend all day on the Internet, in chatrooms, on forums, or on Youtube, while at the same time criticizing anyone who isn't a CTist for not doing anything to Fight The Man.
This is my argument. But I'll be the first to admit that my argument is weak. In fact, my argument is so weak, that those of you who are CTists reading this can dismantle it by answering me one simple question: So what are YOU doing to fight the NWO?
ETA: If you are going to answer with anything to the effect of "I am 'spreading awareness'", allow me to paraphrase a sarcastic line I heard on Lewis Black's Root of All Evil recently: "Oh, sure, spreading awareness. Everybody was aware that Hurricane Katrina was coming, and that made everything all better, didn't it?"
**Footnote: it's historical fact that there WAS an organization called the "Illuminati" at one point in history, but there is zero evidence to suggest that they still exist today.
