In the Associated Press news this morning is an article about suspended Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore addressing the "Reclaiming America for Christ" conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I found a few passages interesting.
This:
"Moore was cheered by 500 conference registrants from 33 states who paid for two days of training in Christian activism against abortion, homosexuality and the teaching of evolution."
Well, at least they are only against the teaching of evolution and apparently not of evolution itself. Whew!
And this quote from Moore:
"They teach in our school system that we've evolved from monkeys. We do have this disease, don't we, called secular humanism."
I find this quote frightening. I wonder if all philosophies other than Moore's brand of Christianity are considered diseases? And this guy was (and may be again) a Chief Justice?
