"In Islam dogs are regarded as unclean and are not allowed in mosques.
However, the Muslim Law (Shari'ah) Council UK has now issued a fatwa which allows guide dogs inside mosques.."

We are the first to jump on religious stupidity so we should congratulate those who make sensible decisions. Now if they can only start to work on all the rest of the nonsense...

Firstly, I don't think anyone here would say that religion makes rational thinking impossible - only that it never helps. Consider the fact that the question of whether or not Allah would be offended if blind people who needed seeing eye dogs could bring the partners they rely on so heavily into a mosque is a question that only exists because of the religion's arbitrary and archaic rules in the first place.

I'd be curious to see what sort of backlash is going on against this in the Muslim world right now.

Why should we marvel at such an obvious decision? Is this all that religion (especially this one) has got going for it? It would have to do alot better than that to impress me.
It's like saying Pat Buchanan is a nice man because he left a tip to the delivery guy.
