View Full Version : [Moderated] List of JREF MDC Supporters
The Professor
28th September 2008, 09:57 AM
I am looking for the list of JREF MDC Supporters who offer additional funds for the winner.
So far those who have asked me to apply to them have NOT come forward with the list they spoke of. Very disappointing.
Does anyone here have a link or any idea where this fantastic list might exist, or is it just a fantasy?
Thanks
Dave

Could you elaborate a bit on this--I'm not sure what you're referring to. Who spoke of a list of supporters offering add'l funds? If that's from one of the threads here, could you please provide a link or post number?

I haven't seen anyone refer to a "list of JREF MDC Supporters who offer additional funds for the winner", but I have seen mention of the many other prizes, in addition to the JREF $1m, which have been offered for scientific proof of the paranormal. There's a list of ten here:

One of those who said I'd NEVER APPLY offered to line me up with some groups that would pay off for the FIRST demonstration (As it should be).
I no longer waste my time in communication with these perpetual time wasters (Since they spin from one lie to the next) but I WILL apply to other groups as is my right :)

Could you please provide a link? I remember somewhere seeing someone mentioning to you that there are other skeptic groups that offer challenges--is that what you're referring to?
Because I'm skeptical that this sentence from the OP is true:
I am looking for the list of JREF MDC Supporters who offer additional funds for the winner.
But maybe I'm wrong--so please show us where the offer was made.

I noticed an article that said tha Criss Angel offered a Million Dollars. Hogwash! Callahan accepted the challenge and Criss Angel refused to allow the test even though he said he'd reveal the contents of his trick envelope on his first MF show this year.
Criss Angel FAILED to do so. (No envelopes on any show so far. He lied)
The Producers at NBC will verify that Callahan accepted the challenge.
Many close minded people refuse to see the truth.

If someone is certain that one is able to do something paranormal, why the need for someone else to pay for a demonstration?
Why not just go straight for the MDC? Especially if one has such an obvious axe to grind when it comes to Randi?
It could look like it was just a case of attention whores wanting someone else to pay for their ticket to fame.

Dave, maybe you could start a new thread about Angel and Callahan? It seems to be off topic for this thread. I'm curious about the list of people who offered additional funds, which is what this thread presumably is about. Please provide a link or other source for this.

So, are you planning on dropping your current JREF MDC application to go for one of the other prizes out there?
Interesting thought. Kill two birds with one stone, since many of the other challenges also qualify as the JREF preliminary test.
I'd say go for it, and let us know how it works out.

I pointed this out to Dave in the MDC thread, twice!(after he asked me for it again)so why he is asking yet again I don't know.I also told him some offer as you say,the chance to apply as a "free pass" to the Million test.
So Professor,the info for a third time it's http://www.aske-skeptics.org.uk/AwardList.html
Does this mean you are dropping the JREF claim? Also you do realise you actually have to have a paranormal ability don't you??

Mr Professor
You speak a lot, open a lot of threads, and continuously attack skeptics. Yet I bet you wouldn't be able to answer these simple questions:
1) Do you have a supernatural ability?
2) If yes, explain what it is in short, clear sentences
3) How do you intend to demonstrate such ability?

I submitted this post to The Magic Cafe on the 26th of July this year. You have seen this list before, and you know where to get the information you require. Perhaps you should do some of your own homework for once, instead of expecting others to do it for you?

TP. Why would taking a preliminary test bother you? If i was you i would be glad to do it, in fact i would insist on ten publicised tests. The more exposure for you the better, and cheap as well.
If I was your agent id advice you to go for as many as possible.
Get your name out there man!
If you really believe you have paranormal powers, and they only work once ( see above, it can be the only reason you wouldn't want multiple tests) haven't you already blown the power? you must have, to know that you have the power. Life is so cruel

Thank you.

There is a huge difference between "can't find a link to a list" and "groups have not come forward with the list".
While the former implies laziness or mere ineptitude, the latter implies that the groups are trying to hide something.
The list has been there for a long time, it has been shown for a long time. Pretending otherwise is simple fraud.

I do not understand why people with real psychic powers bother with a challenge like the MDC at all. They can earn heaps more with less effort by using the powers. For example if you could talk to dead people, find some dead people with messages to living people. Then when the people who have received the message and have verified the accuracy of the message then the psychic can be paid.
Question that may be of value include:-
- Where are certain objects of value?
- Who killed them?
- Where is your body located?
It is odd that no-one offers such a service or anything close to it.

I've been informed that the link I provided earlier is unviewable if you're not a member at The Magic Cafe. Sorry.
This is a post by The Professor regarding his theory about the JREF and the MDC, and my response (which was the link I provided earlier) follows...

I don't think it's within your power Topher to demand an end to this discussion simply because it's been revealed Randi's foundation has not had an official Million Dollar test for quite some time! NO ONE HAS BEEN OFFiCIALLY TESTED FOR A LOOOOONG TIME. YEARS And they are taking in more than $400,000 per year as a tax free organization.
I'm glad the facts a coming out and I can't wait for more.
I see why you want this stopped.
Posted by Topher Higgins - Jul 26, 2008 @ 8:56pm
I don't want it stopped. I pointed it out that the discussion has become pointless, and has come down to (again) a pointless slinging match. If the Café are happy to keep it running, so be it.
Slim, you're wrong. You know you're wrong, and the intelligent people on this forum know you're wrong. The one million dollar challenge still stands. You've got until March 6, 2010 if you want to apply for it. Check out the Wikipedia entry. We already know that nobody has got past the preliminary test...ever. Your "revelation" is nothing new. But doesn't this FACT tell you something?
The One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Randi_Educational_Foundation#The_One_Million _Dollar_Paranormal_Challenge)
You can also see there a list of the other organisations offering cash prizes similair to the JREF's. If Randi's doesn't suit you and Jim, perhaps one of the other ones will...

I tuned in to the radio show yesterday and aside from TP claiming he was "taking the challenge" his paranormal prediction was hilarious!
"I predict the band Broadway star is going to be huge here and in UK"
I think the million is quite safe with paranormal abilities like that. :D

I don't believe you have contacted the Florida group, and I have a very good reason to suspect this.
