View Full Version : Love as bad as religion?

Another Love thread...this one based upon something I thought of when Lord Kenneth was rambling...

1. Love is actually caused by an instinctive reaction that maximizes the success of producing and raising viable offspring in humans (and possibly other lifeforms)

2. Religion (belief in the supernatural) stems from man's instinctive reaction to leap intuitive gaps.

3. Each of these effects (instinctive reactions) are caused by shortcuts in a human's brain, good for survival, but ultimately illogical and potentially harmful to the further evolution of intelligent, skeptical man.

4. Randi must object to the beatification of love the same way he objects to the beatification of religion. Love is bad. Love is ptentially harmful to truth, justice, and the American way, etc.

Talk amongst yourselves. :)

Well, Personally, I see nothing wrong with personal religion. It's oraganized religion I find dangerous.

I suppose, if I think about it, I might feel the same way about organized love.

How about if you just state your own opinions and not try to assign one to Randi? This is extremely rude.

The extrapolation of Randi's position IS my point. The point is debatable, as always.

Would you like my wording a little more PC? How about this:

"Randi might object to the beatification..."

Beatifying love is dumb; claiming that it's useless & illogical is dumber.
