View Full Version : What the Financial Meltdown Says About Twoofers and their Silly Theories

We are facing what is perhaps the biggest international crisis since World War 2. The New York, London, Hong Kong and Tokyo exchanges all tanked yesterday and even "critical thinkers" are lining up behind the fundies for MREs at camping supply stores and digging in for the apocalypse.

Let's look at the numbers.

700 billion dollars.

That number sent Americans in droves to their phones calling their congressmen and demanding they vote against the bail out because they just don't trust mere politicians with that kind of cash. It's the number that drove San Francisco liberal, Nancy Pelosi to call republicans "traitors"!

1.3 trillion dollars.

That's how much the hysteria cost the economy on Wall Street yesterday. And EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT. Cable news networks are clearing their schedules and going to non-stop coverage of market meltdowns (I tried to catch the late showing of O'Rielly last night but it got clipped 15 minutes in so FOX could spend hours talking about London and Tokyo before New York opened).

2.3 trillion dollars.

This number has nothing to do with the current crisis. It's the number conspiraquacks claim went missing and 9/11 was used to cover up. Given the media mania of the last week and a half, how could the idiots in the twoof movement think that even mighty 9/11 itself could possibly give enough of a smokescreen to cover that kind of loss?

More proof that these people aren't living in the real world.

Despite your political slant (did we really need to know Pelosi was a "San Francisco Liberal"?, and relying on O'Reilly for political take, lol), I agree that it certainly does put the insane claims of the truthers on the whole 2.3 Trillion affair, into their insane perspective.

What the Financial Meltdown Says About Twoofers and their Silly Theories

Some politically literate twoofers have been predicting exactly what is happening now for a long time.

I always wondered what people watch O'Rielly.

You would have thought that with all the money the US and UK were saving and making (illegally of course) on oil, they would be financially stable on a more or less permanent basis wouldn't you? After all - didn't we go to war for oil?

Can you explain why a much smaller amount than what you claim went missing just before 9/11 can cause a global financial meltdown while the 2.3 trillion did absolutely nothing?

I pointed that out because the "questioning of patriotism" usually goes the other way. ;)

Big sums of money make people do strange things.

...and if you predict catastrophe often enough for long enough, you'll eventually get it right once, just by pure luck.

How do you feel, knowing your "politically literate twoofers" use exactly the same sort of prediction methods as tabloid psychics?

The 1.3 trillion dollars isn't the cause of the meltdown. It is a symptom of it.

I haven't claimed anything about the Pentagon money and don't even know much about it. As I understand it they just weren't sure what they'd spent it on so it didn't really "go missing". It was part of their budget. It was just unaccounted for. :boggled: oops!

Correct me if I'm wrong. That's just what I remember.

I wasn't thinking of general "catastrophe" but of the specific set of circumstances that we now face.

How do you feel, knowing your "politically literate twoofers" use exactly the same sort of prediction methods as tabloid psychics?

They don't. They use logic. Michael C. Ruppert, for example, the author of the famous book about 911, Crossing the Rubicon. The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil, has presented a very clear map of events in advance, for years:

Just guessing would still be better then just knee-jerk hand waiving ever single alternative view under the sun as a conspiracy theory.

Well on this planet...Earth...there are at least a few. If they have any economic classes on the planet you're on, I recommend you take some.

No, because there won't be one. Any day now Bush will finally declare martial law, setup up the Bush Dynasty, nuke Iran and most of the rest of the world, and then his family will rule over what's left of the world for the next 1000 years. Duh?

Of course there is no such thing as a pure free market..a pure anything is probably impossible . But if you mean markets where private enterprise is the primary driving force of the economy,,well, The US, Japan, Southease Asia, even Europe come to mind.

I haven't been following it very closely, I got a bit bored of the subject, but apparently he just pretended it never happened and moved on. Now he is claiming that the current mortgage fallout is connected. Ironically the traffic to my blog, admittedly not very large to begin with, has doubled since this whole thing started as a result.
