That's the subject for tomorrow's free lecture at Sage College in Albany. Short notice, but I want to go.
Question:
For those of you familiar with these things, what does the average lecture person try to pass off as legit? How is it generally refuted?
Also, having not yet read Demon Haunted World, what are some pertinent points the Carl Sagan made?
Last question: what frequency can a human being feel a sound but not hear it? Wasn't there something about a person who felt his hair stand up on end, as if he were being watched, be grew agitated, broke out in a sweat, but then noticed it was vibrations in the room?

or don't tell me about past lectures you've been to where people are trying to pass off paranormal stuff as real life phenomena, or people are debunking paranormal phenomena at all. I mean, it's only the first paranormal lecture I've been to, either pro or con, and I was really hoping someone would tell me about their experience so maybe I have an idea what to expect.... (so I unashamedly bump this thread up with this post) ;)

Unless you plan on jumping in a pointing out to the whole crowd you think it's all bunk, you'd probably want to get specifically what they discuss and then bring that information here for dissection.
Who's giving the presentation? Who's sponsering it? Without that sort of information it's hard to give advice on preparation.

Oh. Sorry. I'll bring back info on the lecture then after I've seen it. Cus I've got nothing, no ad, no paper, just a verbal invite from a girl I know at the gym. We're going together.
Although, I would still like to know some pertinent points about Demon Haunted World. I want it for christmas.

Awesome book. Sagan covers just about every skeptical topic, but tends to focus on alien abduction. I suspect because of his career as a planetary scientist and astronomer.
Actually very little about demonology in there. (A bit about the parallel between demonic visitation and alien abduction.) The title is an allegory.
