A group of South African skeptics have put together a Stop Danie Krugel site, with the aim of informing more people about the suspicious nature of Krugel's claims, and to correct several common mistakes made by the media when reporting on Krugel. I'm new to the forum and cannot post links, but I can give a hint, if you can read between the spaces :) www stop danie krugel dot com
For those who don't know, Krugel is the ex-cop in South Africa who claims to have invented a device that used a combination of quantum physics, GPS and a 'secret power source' that can locate any matter from a small sample. The South African media have fallen for this hook, line and sinker, and Krugel is now regularly called upon by parents of missing children to look for them. Recently, he has claimed that he can detect cancer in patients where current diagnostics fail.
The man in clearly dangerous, and the site has a Support Us page, where skeptics can add their names to a growing list of people who doubt Krugel's claims, or wish to see the promotion of his services cease until proper scientific investigagtion of his claims.
The JREF and the challenge is mentioned there, but the credibility of the site will be boosted immensely if someone from the JREF can actually comment, or provide an official endorsement. Randi has mentioned Krugel several times, even going as far as to invite him to take part in the $1 million challenge.
