Last I checked, McCain was running as president, and Palin as VP. Did you have this much fun with Dan Quayle, or has her gender gotten to you, Ben?

Considering that McCain is older than God, a Palin presidency isn't out of the question. The man is 72, Average life expectacy for an American Male is 77. He would only have to croak one year short of the average to put Palin in the Big Chair.

Well, I did subscribe to that Quayle Watch humor magazine. :D

As did I, Quayle was extraordinarily qualified compared to Palin.

I'm with Nyar...etc on this one. The VP serves two purposes, to break ties in the Senate and be a spare President. The latter is particularly relevant with McCain.

For the record, I was too young to make fun of Quayle.

That seems like a low blow Darth. Unless of course you have a reason to thing Ben is sexist.

I look forward to misery that this woman will be causing the left for decades to come. If what we've seen so far is any indication, it should be immensely pleasurable.

Yes, those are funny. Is there something special to do with the dinosaur passing outside the window? And is that only an allusion to her creationist stance or has it also to do with this presidential debate (http://irregularwebcomic.net/comic.php?current=2074) :)?

Actually, after she fails in her re-election bid in Alaska in a couple of years, she'll probably fade into (deserved) obscurity.

I thought the dinosaur was a nice touch.

Although I'm fairly confident she will not win this election, I do think the left dismisses her too easily. It's easy to take cheap, and funny, shots like this cartoon, but they still underestimate her appeal.

Even if she doesn't figure prominently in future politics, she certainly has a future in talk radio. I would much rather listen to her than Hannity or Limbaugh.

Well, I think she will still cause misery. For her husband, her lover, her children, her grandchildren, and anybody else who has to deal with her crap.

But none of us will hear from her again.

Really?
I think listening to her talk and listening to Hannity talk is pretty much the same thing; Same talking points, aimed at the same audience, etc.

Sadly, we didn't have Flash Player back then. But we did have Mad Magazine, so yes. I did, anyway.

I look forward to misery that this woman will be causing the left for decades to come. Tell me, I'm curious ... in your daydream, how does she cause misery to the left?

I find it hard to guess at the details of your fantasy, as it is not a daydream I share --- prefering as I do to content myself with enjoying real things that are actually happening in the present, such as Sarah Palin being an amusing doofus who's fun to laugh at.

It's funny but in an extraordinarily unsophisticated way. A Palin presidency would not necessarily lead to nuclear war. It would only probably lead to nuclear war.

ETA: Which Palin would then mispronounce.

From a little watching on the tube, I get the impression she may be groomed for future runs at a white house bid.

If they could polish up Ronald Reagan the way they did, it is not impossible that in 8 years, a much more polished, much more knowledgable Palin could comeback as a formidable REP opponent...

I not only think this is possible, I think she could pull it off. She did really well in her gubernatorial debates. I think she massively fails on a national level because she is so grossly unfamiliar with national issues. If she were to prepare herself, she might be able to pull off a fairly decent campaign in 2016.

This isn't to say that I would be all that pleased with her style of governing (assuming that would remain static over the next 8 years), I'm just saying she could be a contender.

She's only 44 years old. She has time. I would say it is not at all impossible. It doesn't have to even be four or eight years from now.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see a Democratic victory for the Alaska Senate seat this year, setting up Palin for a 2014 Senate run, assuming she wins reelection as governor, and assuming she remains popular in Alaska.

Then, 2020? 2024? She would only be 60.

Grooming her by letting her participate in an election that she's gonna lose and where she's completely unprepared for, doesn't seem like a very good strategy.

She's already damaged goods. Question is whether she'll be able to redeem herself. Which isn't a good starting point for a presidential bid.

I don't think that was the strategy. This is more of a Plan B.

It's happened before. Nixon lost to Kennedy and managed to come back from it.

You know, when I read this I thought that Whiplash had finally put down what he was smoking. I had to read this several times to understand the responses it generated. And then it dawned on me...he said "left." Now I'm completely flummoxed. The only way this statement even made sense at all was if it said "right."

The left is only suffering from heartburn and bruised ribs from laughing so hard.
