View Full Version : Earth Endures Wrath of Stung Sun God

Amun-Re seems to be somewhat angry with us lately. As the third largest Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) slammed into the earth this morning, the Sun flared yet again, firing a not-as-powerful-but-still-in-the-top-twenty magnetic storm in our more or less specific direction. The third such event in two weeks, the flare is set to hit earth tomorrow afternoon or evening. Today's geomagnetic storm was supposed to hit around midday; however, we were surprised when the CME, which was expected (as is typical) to take a day or two to reach earth arrived in a record 19 hours, striking at about 6 in the morning EST. There were Auroral displays as far south as El Paso, Texas. Perhaps there are some going on even now.

The meaning of all this is clear: we must give up our foolish notions and revert to the worship of Amun-Re at once, or we Can Not Imagine What Will Happen Next™.

I'll give it my breast effort; I tend to act like a boob when confined to the indoors by nipply weather.

Arrrrgh, I wish I had known that they arrived early. I live 140 miles north of El Paso and have always wanted to see the lights. I missed it:( . Can anyone tell me when the next one will hit and if there is a chance I might get to see the lights?

Apparently we'll have 19 hours notice on one like this most recent ejection.

You can bookmark SOHO (http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/) and check it to see if we're in the line of fire.

Why do you assume it's wrath? Maybe the Sun God was so proud of how hard we've been working that it decided to treat us to a free light show.

Well,

According to Bernard Cornwell in his epic novel "Stonehenge"
the Sungod- "Slaol" is always trying to reconcile with, and then seduce the moon goddess- "Lahanna"

Maybe Slaol got a close glimpse of Lahanna and had a premature eja.... oh,... darn.... nevermind. :o

The Northern Lights are beginning to burn over Lorain, Ohio. I think I'll go out and watch the pretty colors. :)

Fear not! A Cosmoto Treaty is in the works! A mere $15,000 (US) tax for each Earth family should do the job. If you object, just know that we are are getting off lightly. Those poor folks on Uranus have to pay up the butt!

This, of course, will open up many new administrative jobs in the Democrat bureaurocracy. Be sure to put in your application in quadruplicate early!
