He's just going to spend a couple/few days with his sick grandmother:

Is she sick, or actually sick and tired (of being a topic in this campaign?)

She is sick - and was released from Hospital last week:

Robert Gibbs told reporters aboard Obama's plane that Obama's grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, who helped raise him, was released from the hospital late last week. But he said her health had deteriorated "to the point where her situation is very serious."

I bet she's not even sick!

Or she's already been dead for weeks!

I like the new avatar, Oliver.

It's like a Rorschach test: The "8"--is it a "B" or is it an "S"...?

(Something tells me that's not what you were going for, though...)

Sounds like a hospice situation. They sent her home so she could die in her own bed. :(

It'd be cool if she could hold on long enough to see her grandson become president. But if ya gotta go, ya gotta go, I suppose.

Well if the McCain thing is anything to go by you are now meant to make digs about how the second string quaterback should step up.

I have no doubt we'll see plenty of Joe Biden in the next few days.

You know, it SOUNDS like it must be woo, but they say there is an "anniversary effect" where people will hang on until a date that is significant to them and then expire shortly thereafter. Not sure if it is real or a selection effect though. In her case, I hope it is real and I hope she hears the news before its her time ends.

Unless you see him in person probably not. He is drawing reasonable crowds but not many journalists.

Well, if Obama's out of the spotlight, then Biden is the obvious go-to person for the campaign. We'll see.

Michelle Obama will fill in for her husband on Friday at previously scheduled events in Columbus and Akron, Ohio, his campaign said.
