Wow, this is just hilarious! A new poll from ABC News shows that McCain's pick of Palin for VP has hurt his campaign more than his claims that Obama has unseemly connections with Ayers has hurt Obama's campaign. Oh, teh irony!
More Challenges for McCain, From Ayers to the Palin Pick (http://abcnews.go.com/PollingUnit/Politics/story?id=6067150&page=1)
Fallout continues from McCain's pick of Sarah Palin for vice president, with 52 percent saying it weakens their confidence in his judgment.
60 percent say Obama's relationship with Ayers is not a legitimate issue in the presidential campaign; 37 percent say it is.

Picking Palen was a transparently cynical political move and reveals McCain to be far more concerned about his own ambitions than the welfare of the country. It is one thing to pick a VP without national experience. It is something altogether worse to pick someone who is utterly unqualified in terms of basic capability.

Palin is like a female version of Ted Haggard or Pat Robertson. In America gay marriage is illegal and the year is 2008?

This really isn't surprising, other than demonstrating Americans are finally paying attention to how cynical Republican campaign strategies are.

California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York recognize "gay marriages." Not sure what the date has to do with whether the federal government is supposed to get involved in this issue.

Why would ABC even bother with a poll comparing Palin as VP and Obama starting his campaign in Ayers house?

But...but...Mccain is "Country First"! Surely Palin was the most qualified Republican he could have picked for V.P.

Not according to CNN's investigation.
***.."In 1995, months after the little known Obama became Annenberg Project Chair, State Senator Alice Palmer introduced the young Obama as her political heir. Where was this introduction made? The home of 60's radicals, Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorn."..***

Not when the "country" she puts first is the Republic of Alaska.

Well, CNN appears to be lying on that one. Not surprising given their political slant. I believe the Sun Times knows the lay of things much more accurately.

I think all those people claiming that Jindal was too inexperienced are now wishing they could go back in time to beg on their hands and knees that he consider running for vp with McCain. Maybe it wouldn't have "excited the base" but he would have brought in a lot of votes that McCain is now missing out on.

I think it illustrates nicely how their carefully planned political choices, and they were strictly polictal, have totally backfired.
Step 1: "Choose the folksy broad from Alaska! She'll motivate the base and she'll bring in the dejected Hillary supporters." - EPIC FAIL!*
Step 2: "Have her talk about Obama being buddies with a terrorist!" - FAIL
Step 3: Give puppies cancer!**
* OK, she did bring in the base, but everything beyond that is in full backfire.
**Just an extrapolation based on their current MO.

Ok...just for giggles...Troother Conspiracy Theory on the McPalin Ticket. Follow this "logic":
1. The state of the country at this time means that whoever wins is going to be handed a crap sandwich, and has no hope of being re-elected. So...McCain agreed to take one for the team by running, knowing that he has little chance of winning due to his party being in power when the proverbial stuff hit the fan.
2. Republicans, being comprised of mostly fundamentalist Christians, want to keep women in their Biblical place, subordinate to men. They would never choose to actually put a woman in power.
Therefore....
3. Since McCain was already taking one for the team, it was decided to kill two birds with one stone...not only would they hand the election to the opposing party, but they would make a show of attempting to put a woman in power. They intentionally chose the most ridiculous possible candidate in order to prove that women should never EVER be allowed out of the kitchen again.
Before you get offended, please note, I actually heard this theory posed at a bar, and found it so hilarious that I had to share.
