View Full Version : Sylvia's 2008 Farewell Tour Isn't One

Sylvia Browne's 2008 farewell tour appears to have been a bit of a mis-representation. She now has lectures and cruises scheduled throughout much of 2009, this time on Mystical Travelers.

Anyone care to speculate on how many years she'll claim to be on a farewell tour before people catch on?

Or maybe she assumes no one will remember she ever said anything about a farewell tour in the first place?

Why won't she retire? I'm not even being snarky or mean here. She's a very old woman. Very, very old.

Why is she still doing this? Even if she weren't a dangerous fraud, I'd say she should enjoy her old age and walk away from the job.

There's a mattress store down the street that's had a going-out-of-business-sale for 20 years. The fluorescent orange (circa 1986) signs are almost completely sun faded. Technically, this is not legal.

Regarding Sylvia, I mentally pictured her farewell tour being like those limited-time-only Disney films, and was looking forward to them "locking her in the vault" for a generation.

The other thing that occurred to me is that maybe she's taken a page from the Vatican.

Once you become the leader of a worldwide church, maybe it's inevitable that you just keep getting dragged around by acolytes and propped up in front of fans until you actually disintegrate.

She probably couldn't stand the lack of attention that would entail.

I'd guess that sheer greed has blinded her to the things that might have more meaning in life.

And she probably doesn't want to admit that SSB really impacted her career in a very negative way. If she actually retired it may seem to her like admitting defeat at the hands of we "Dark Entities," and especially RSL.

The 10 year long retirement tour followed by the 20 year post-retirement lecture circuit is the beginning of the end...not....

Did this turn of events actually surprise anybody? Greed and ego seem to be her watchwords.

She isn't able to live without that feeling of power.

Francine told me.

Well, confidentially . . . Francine told me that of course it's greed, but also that Chris taking over the family business isn't working out. Shhh! Don't tell anyone.

Sylvia's pulling a Cher? I hope that doesn't mean she'll be appearing in a thong and fishnets....

Sylvia Browne was not entirely honest about her farewell tour?

That is a horrible horrible image to put out on the unsuspecting internet.

For all we know that image could already be out there on the internet. I hope to [insert name here] that this isn't the case.

I could have predicted this.

:D

Yep, greed, power, and I agree it was predictable, especially with RSL temporarily out of commission. I further predict she's going to spend the next year trying to get Chris in position to take over. I also predict she will fail! So, next year this time we'll see how impressive ExM's psychic powers really are.

Thank you! I did not need that! I'm sick enough already.

The "farewell" tour is a common marketing ploy which--hold on to your hats, now--isn't always totally truthful. There used to be a "mentalist" named Reveen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reveen) whose "farewell" tours came through here every year. It got to be a joke in my circle of friends ("Third Annual Farewell Tour"), but obviously Reveen didn't care, as long as it drew some extra people to his shows. And I still remember the hoopla around The Who's farewell concert--in 1980.

Hell, I wouldn't even get my hopes up after Sylvia dies. She'll still come back to haunt us from The Other Side. In fact, when I see her on TV, I wonder if she's not doing that right now.

I'm willing to bet your first sentence is it. I'm also thinking a closer watch should be paid to see what kind of **** she starts talking as well.

I agree with the power comment. People with power don't give it up unless it's taken from them.

Still plenty of orchestra-level seats left in the first 20 rows! I just can't understand why they're not selling like hotcakes!!
