Our highly-experimental inaugural 'Skepticamp' event in August of 2007 was followed by a second event last March in Castle Rock. Now with those behind us, we have gained the means and experience of pulling together the people and resources to bring this idea to the next level, so it's time to start the ball rolling on organizing an exciting third Colorado Skepticamp to occur this coming Winter or Spring.

For the uninitiated, skepticamps (http://barcamp.org/SkeptiCamp) are participant-driven events focused on science, skepticism and critical thinking and offer a way for an informal group such as ours to offer a day of eclectic, informative and interactive talks. For the gritty details on the 'hows' and 'whys' of skepticamp:

* Nine Steps to Organizing Your First Skepticamp (http://barcamp.org/OrganizeALocalSkeptiCamp) (wiki page)

* 'Raising Our Game - the rationale to embrace skepticamp (http://files.meetup.com/328802/raising-our-game-oct-2008.pdf)' (requires PDF viewer)

If you're in Colorado, consider joining us to find out more. We'll set a tentative date for the event, elect someone to coordinate the effort, and distribute the organizing effort into many bite-sized chunks of volunteer goodness.

If you don't think you're up to doing a talk yourself just yet, helping in the organization effort is a terrific opportunity and great way to participate!

The meeting will be on Nov 18th somewhere west of Denver TBD.
