Ok folks. So we all know about the Expensive Gas NWO Conspiracy!!

This conspiracy forced americans to drive less, spend less, feel bad about global warming...all of the NWO's secret agendas!!

So what, then, will the Cheap Gas NWO Conspiracy?

With cheap gas, people will buy more gas, go to more malls, buy more stuff...cause stuff will cost less, since it costs less to transport stuff...therefore there will be more money spent...more sales taxes paid..more corporate income taxes paid..therefore the economy will be in better shape...therefore stores can hire more people....therefore...therefore...um..um.....whats the conspiracy here?????

You invented this just now, didn't you?

And yet, sadly, I bet you there are actual woos out there who actually do believe this stuff.

Remember how cheap gas was also a NWO election ploy to get the neocons back in power? That worked out well, didn't it. I wonder what the woos are going to use to explain cheap gas now that the election has been over for more than a week and gas prices are STILL dropping like a rock.

It will drive up greenhouse gas emissions, creating an excuse to claim that Global Warming is getting worse, and killing off 80% of humanity is the only possible solution.

In fact, they drove up the price of gas just so the sheeple would go into a gas-burning frenzy once the price dropped again!

clearly a conspiracy masterminded by the DNC

We were told that $4 gas was a result of Supply and Demand.

Are they now telling us that we are currently using HALF the gasoline that we used a few months ago?

If not .... then .....THEY LIED TO US :)

In complex world markets like oil, "supply and demand" are affected by more than just how much oil you burn on any given day.

Cheap petrol conviently kills off a lot of energy saveing R&D keeping the high petrol prices as a useful weapon in future.

Well OPEC probably wouldn't phrase it like that but broadly speaking that is their aproach (although they are more worried about R&D reduceing oil demand perminantly than oil prices as a weapon).

I had to look up your posting history to figure out if you were being sarcastic, but I think you're being serious.

You really misunderstand supply and demand. Price is not simply proportional to demand (with a fixed supply). If gas is half the cost, that does not imply that demand is half.

The market for gasoline is what economists call "inelastic." That means that the demand is relatively not sensitive to the price. If we want 10% more gas, with a fixed supply, the price could easily double. Conversely, if the demand drops by 10%, prices can drop by half.

And then there is this:

http://www.reason.com/news/show/130132.html

A year ago, crude oil was going for $88.00 per barrel and gasoline cost an average of $2.76 per gallon. Over the following months, the price soared, reaching an inflation-adjusted record high of just over $147 per barrel in July. Then the bottom fell out. Yesterday, the price was hovering around $58, up from a recent low of $53 per barrel. The result is gasoline prices plummeting from a national average of $4.11 per gallon in July to below $2.07 per gallon now. So what happened?

First, just as one would expect, higher prices led to lower demand. U.S. demand for petroleum in 2008 was 5.4 percent lower than in 2007, falling by 1.1 million barrels per day (bpd) from 20.7 million to 19.6 million barrels per day. As prices rose Americans curtailed their driving. The Federal Highway Administration reported that in August 2008, Americans drove 15 billion fewer miles, or 5.6 percent less, than they did in August 2007. On the other hand, recent high prices have called forth new sources of supply. For example, Canadian oil sands now produce 1.1 million barrels per day. And new deepwater offshore production rigs like the Thunder Horse (250,000 barrels per day) and Tahiti (125,000 barrels per day) platforms are coming online. Falling demand and increasing supply mean lower prices.

So, higher prices reduced demand, while encouraging new supplies, and the prices eventually dropped. Shocking, really.

And OF COURSE the NWO caused it all!

If that were OPEC's reason for the current cuts, I think they would have cut prices before there was a Prius in every US parking lot.
