It seems a former program manager at a radio station has offered us a rare eye into the workings of these performances (source: http://www.milwaukeemagazine.com/currentIssue/full_feature_story.asp?NewMessageID=24046&pf=yes).
What does everyone think of this? It's a well-written article, which isn't really unexpected given the occupation of the source, and well worth the read.

Nice article.
Some of the comments are hilarious. (And sorta sad.)

I got a feeling it is not much different with Left Wing Talk show hosts. They too, feed on making their listeners feel like "victims". And I bet they get a "Talking Point" e mail from the Democrats also.
For reasons having to do with Demographics (who listens to talk radio),they have not been quite as sucessful as the Right Wing hosts. That is the only difference.
I challenge anybody not to listen to Randy RHodes and tell me she not just a bizarro version of Rush Limbaugh.

There goes the dud using his powers of esp again.

I've listened to her a few times. She is quite less bizarre than Rush Drugaddict.

A friend of mine keeps crowing about how awful Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, et al must feel about the election of Barack Obama. I keep telling him that business-wise, it's the best thing that could have happened for them, and they'll be crying all the way to the bank.

...If you lack compelling arguments in favor of your candidate or point of view, attack the other side. These attacks often rely on two key rhetorical devices, which I call You Know What Would Happen If and The Preemptive Strike

And there is Tony with his partisan blinders on again.
Never heard Rhodes when she goes into a Truther rant, have you?

Successful in ratings only, really. I have to wonder that if the right-wing talk show hosts are so influential, how did Clinton get reelected in 1996, let alone Obama less than two weeks ago?

My favorite part of the article was the comment at the end, about the email received from the current management at the station. The email depicted the right wing talk show hosts as victims of an attack by mainstream media.
