Too bad. The sooner he is punished, the better.

A Libertarian Party congressional candidate made a brief appearance in court Tuesday, but the case was reset for another day because of a possible new charge by the Sauk County prosecutor.

Kevin James Barrett, 49, now of Black River Falls, appeared in Sauk County Circuit Court on a single count of disorderly conduct and another of bail jumping. The misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge stems from an incident on Sept. 10 in which the prosecution says Barrett struck one of his children on the back after becoming angry about noise while he was trying to sleep. Barrett also faces allegations he violated a domestic abuse restraining order keeping him away from his estranged wife.

Barrett says the charges are based on false statements by his wife because of her discomfort over his political activity. Barrett ran unsuccessfully for Wisconsin's Third District U.S. Congress seat. He says the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks were caused by the government, not foreign terrorists.

The judge rescheduled Tuesday's hearing after the assistant district attorney handling the case said she had a new settlement offer for Barrett and the prosecution is considering a new charge against him, court records show.

Barrett is due back in court Dec. 10.

well a new charge is a good reason. he's just adding more criminal actions to his own repertoire. good. shows exactly the type of sub-human he portrays himself to be.
