Anyone going to the SUNY Oswego Nov 19 appearance of Randi? I'm trying to get time off work. Just thought it would be cool to meet regional skeptics, too, if they're going.

Um... huh? I did not know about that. Where is some information on it? November 19, 2003
SUNY Oswego
Oswego, NY
Hewitt Union Ballroom
Contact: Erin Halligan
halligan@Oswego.edu Oh, there (http://www.randi.org/calendar/index.html), but wait! Not all of these events will be available to the general public, but access information is given so that you may inquire. Is there any other information on this lecture…availability… time… subject? If it is late enough, I may go after work. I drive MUCH further for mountain biking. Perhaps I will contact Ms. (I presume) Halligan tomorrow.
However, I will be attending (because I learned about it far in advance) Michael Shermer’s lecture on his book Why People Believe Weird Things on 11.12, in Troy.

From Oswego.edu (http://osucal.oswego.edu:591/osucal/FMPro?-db=osu_cal.fp5&-Format=search.htm&-FindAny): Psychic investigator James Randi
11/19/03 7 p.m., ballroom, Hewitt Union.
Admission: Free
For information, call 312-4089 or e-mail halligan@oswego.edu.
Also, I called Ms. Halligan. She stated that the lecture is open to the general public on a first-come first-serve basis. And that, while the ballroom seats 350+ folks, the lecture has generated quite a lot of interest with local schools. Still, I think I will brave the potential crowd, take half of that day off work and drive up for it.
Thanks for the heads-up, Suezoled. You sure are going the extra mile, what, with flying to the US for a Randi lecture, to fool us into thinking that you are not really hellcat! (It is difficult to tell that that was a joke with my refusal to use smilies, I know.) Although, if you decide not to go at the last minute, wow, that will be suspicious!

Very cool! Thanks.
So... if you're coming to Troy, I'll be there too. It's not that far from Albany, and I can go after work.

I packed up the books and merchandise that will be sold for that lecture on Thursday while I was very very sick from my tonsils being out. If you buy merch, you're welcome. ;)
Have fun!

Certainly you mean Wednesday, right? RIGHT!?
Okay, you mean that you did the packing on Thursday, not that the lecture is on Thursday. Wow, the confusion is overwhelming!

Forgive me, it was very bad sentance structure. Thursday was the day I packed the box. I don't have a clue when the lecture itself is. Sorry to stop your heart there.

Yup, 3 L, 3 XL, 3 XXL, one each of blue, yellow, white. Get yours first to get choice color.
I'm feeling much better today, thanks. I'm going back to work tomorrow and I think I'll be fine for the whole day. :D

I'm thinking about going to the Randi lecture. (Thanks for posting about it. I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.)
It seems kind of crazy, driving 300 miles one way for it.
But I like driving.
And when have I claimed to be sane, anyway?
Here's a road map (http://www.mapblast.com/(stxslhvycuuaxyv0aj4ixm55)/directions.aspx?&StartName=Albany%2c+New+York%2c+United+States&StartLocation=42.65248%2c-73.76085&EndName=W+End+Ave%2c+Oswego%2c+NY+13126&EndLocation=43.45009%2c-76.54416&DataSetLangID=USA%2c409&RouteType=Quickest&RouteUnit=Miles&MSID=019023D0577446029D6F295C5039856F) to keep you from getting lost on the way. And here's a campus map (http://www.oswego.edu/oz/campusmap.html) for when you get there. Hewitt Union is building 11 on map section 3.

And yes, I will be there.
Edited to add: Phaycops, if I were you, I'd call in sick to work. How often do you get this kind of opportunity a mere stone's throw from where you live?

So, how will we all recognize each other?
I'm still not sure if I'll make it there . But if you see a tall, thin guy with red hair in a ponytail, who is wearing glasses and an "NYC" baseball cap, say hi.
(I have no idea who you'll be saying hi to, but I don't suppose he'll mind.)
(Just kidding. It'll be me.)

Forecast tomorrow is rain and misery. This should be the highlight of my day. :) See y'all there, hooah?

Randi reports on his trip to Oswego (http://www.randi.org/jr/112803linda.html)
We had an overflow audience for my lecture, SRO, and a splendid reaction from the students.
