EXORCIST CONFIRMED PERIOD DURING WHICH POPE LEO XIII FORESAW A DEMONIC INVASION (http://spiritdaily.com/unchained3.htm)

sample:
<blockquote>
An exorcist whose records were approved by the Holy Office in Rome and who worked in the field of deliverance for more than a quarter of a century claimed in a reflection on his encounters that a demonic invasion was in progress by the time of Leo XIII -- who wrote the famous prayer to the Archangel Michael -- and delineated the dramatic way the Blessed Mother was sent to repel this "invasion."

During his years specializing in exorcisms, the priest -- who lived in Germany and whose identity has been carefully shielded -- said that numerous encounters with evil spirits revealed a strategy in which the Virgin Mary was choosing a small group to counter the onslaught -- especially through the use of "victim souls" in whom the exorcist said demonic entities are captured and returned to the netherworld.

It's scary that people believe this crap. Stuff like "However much the torment, it always pales in comparison to the joy." can be used in any extremist movement to justify practically anything.
Even when I was a theist myself, I have always been wary of the Catholic insistance on Mary worship. it doesnt seem 'logical' even within the 'special logic' of the Christian churches.
Even as a theist, I couldn't believe in the concept of a demigod (satan) who acts like a simple idiot.
Even as a theist, I couldn't accept a 'loving' God who plays chess with peoples lives - sacrificing pawns, and putting people through 'hell on earth' without a second thought.
IMO, It takes a special mindset to become a Catholic and, if you are brought up as a catholic, you're screwed mentally from the day you are born.

Unlike the other stuff you mentioned, this one has definite scriptural support.

See especially the book of Job. Satan is no idiot demigod in that one. He's at a family party up in Heaven having a friendly little wager with his dad. Though maybe that's more like poker than chess.

It makes perfect sense when you have FAITH!

Let me guess, you are probably so clouded in your lack of faith that you cant even admire the Emperor's fashionable ensemble.
