This is how you know that we've made very significant racial progress in the past 10 years: O.J. is going to prison and no one in America, white, black or other, cares.

Excellent. America has already wasted enough time on this creep.

There it is.That was just for the kidnapping with the gun charge . They said it would be 6 years before he is able to get parole ,But they say in NV it's almost automatic that you get turned down the first 2 times . Plus because their judges are elected when it comes time for parole that they will speak up to keep him in jail for faer of not being reelected and he will most likely spend the rest of his life in jail

He apparently decided that restraining and beating (with a chain) a male escort he'd hired for a photo session made sense.

LAS VEGAS -- O.J. Simpson was sentenced Friday to a minimum of 15 years in prison for the gunpoint robbery and kidnapping of two sports memorabilia dealers.

Simpson, 61, will not be eligible for parole for five years.

1.) It took a hell of a lot less time to get the truth in this case as it did for the previous two trials, probably because there weren't TV cameras in the courtroom, and no one preening for them.

2.) Five years? He'll be lucky to survive two. He's a not an inmate, he's a target.

3.) What happens to his kids, now that he goes to jail?

4.) Does this mean that while he's in prison, the Goldman and Brown families will start receiving what they're owed?

OJ gets 15 years in the slammer.

There it is.
Apparently, it was a confusing sentence and this is in fact incorrect. He got 33 years, first parole eligibility after 9:

Glass, a no-nonsense judge known for her tough sentences, imposed such a complex series of consecutive and concurrent sentences that even many attorneys watching the case were confused as to how much time Simpson got.

Simpson could serve up to 33 years but could be eligible for parole after nine years, according to Elana Roberto, the judge's clerk.

Buy a lot of Camels, and pay your way to Gen-Pop!

OJ will die in prison, he is 61 now, and he wont get parole in his 1st try...

General population will get him out on the "yard", where he can pump some iron.

Part of me says no he wouldn't.

The other part says "he staged a strong-arm robbery with hostages and would've gotten the same amount of time except without any media fanfare."

In the end it comes down to the old Chris Rock take on it. "If he didn't have money and fame, he wouldn't even be 'OJ.' He'd be 'Orenthal the bus-driving double-murderer.'"

As I said yesterday ,one of the reasons they are appealing, is that there were no black members on the jury . Why does it always boil down to a race issue . Now if they had found him innocent, do you think the states attorney would appeal on the same issues ?

Not when you murder a woman, or are otherwise considered a sicko. See Dahmer and his prison experience for example.

Now, murdering a rival gang member may put you at the top of the heirarchy, in your own gang at least.

No, I don't think they'll ever parole Manson, but then the two situations are hardly similar. I didn't intend to imply that states never keep the elderly in prison, but just that parole boards tend to lean more favorably toward the elderly than their younger peers.

The appeal on the basis of the racial makeup of the jury is a dead letter. It'll never succeed.

There is no appeal for the state after an acquittal. It's absolutely final.

I think you and The Fool are misplacing the bulk of the errors in the first OJ prosecution. Sure, the police actions were not first cabin but there was plenty of evidence to get a conviction. It was the DA's office that screwed the pooch. There were some very serious errors on the part of the LAPD (see Mark Fuhrman's book A Murder In Brentwood) but I'm happy to give blame where blame is due. Due to her breathtaking incompetency Marcia Clark should never have stepped into that courtroom. Darden was seen as cynical from the beginning and he was over his head and easily provoked by Cochran et al. BTW, as much as I dislike the bunch formerly known as the dream team they deserve credit for some smart strategical and tactical decisions. Chief of which was to demand a speedy trial. And legal or not the jury tampering at the end was a stroke of genius. It was disgusting but it worked. FTR: No, I have no evidence that Cochran's office was behind the anonymous tip that led to the removal of Jeanette Harris, who BTW NEVER wrote a book, but who else would have likely done that?

ETA: Judge Ito also deserves serious damnation for his mendacity regarding his wife and also the fact that he allowed himself to be a puppet of the defense in the removal of Harris since there was zero evidence that she was guilty of what she was accused of. So much for being a judge.

Pretty dicey situation for Simpson. He gambled by doing this in Vegas, and it didn't help that he has a chip on his shoulder. You don't draw to an inside straight in that town. You hedge your bets. Instead, he became one armed bandit and was dealt the deadman's hand.

OT but next up for Judge Glass are the murder trials of world class body builders Craig Titus and Kelly Ryan of their personal assisstant Melissa James who was drugged, bound, shocked with a stun gun and strangled before her corpse was found in the trunk of Ryan’s burned-out red Jaguar in December 2005.
That Judge sure gets the interesting ones.

You know considering the other threads about at the moment, I have to say that this one confirms that there is a rather different view of male-male rape than female-male rape.

I am positive that not one person here would be joking about a female getting raped in jail.

I don't joke about it either way. It's not funny, usually.

Except in the case of OJ. Then, it's hysterical.
