View Full Version : When Protesters Attack

This is is a great up+coming conservative counter to michael moore. Check out his short films. Although a lot of people here would be quick to deny it, the ideas and actions of the people in this video are very typical today.
About this video
I was now completely encircled. When I tried to escape, the protesters then started smacking the camera with their signs, while others were shoving me from different directions. I started retreating, pushing my way back from the loudspeaker, all the while leaving the camera running and asking the protesters why they weren't letting me film. Just when the scuffle between me and the protesters seemed like it was about to take a turn for the worse, I remembered that there were some cameras present from a few mainstream media outlets. I started yelling, "Why are you trying to censor me?" The idea was to attract the other cameras, thinking that the protesters would back off if their actions were captured by the news media. The gambit worked: we were soon surrounded by cameras.

here is a background story to the video if you're interested :
http://www.brain-terminal.com/video/rutgers-2003-10-11/when-protesters-attack.html
After leaving the building, we noticed a number of people in the parking lot standing around taking pictures of the cars. Oddly, none of these people--most of whom were dressed in T-shirts that announced their support of Palestinians--had been in the parking lot a few minutes earlier when we entered the hotel lobby. As we got into our car, we saw one person looking at the car and writing in a small notepad; previous experience led me to suspect that our license plate number was being copied down. (If so, it was a futile exercise: the car I drove was a rental.)

Thats why its best to go armed to a protest.

There is really no need to demonstrate stupidity with every single post....can we just agree to accept it as your default position?

Tony, as you know, you are permanently on my ignore list, but when Fool revealed your comments, I was...well...flabbergasted.
Even given the silliness of the situation as Sinister Wanker has posted, are you seriously suggesting that the way to deal with protesters is to shoot them?
No, on second thoughts, don't bother answering. I have no wish to hear any of your mindless attempts to justify your lust for mindless firearm violence. We've been down that road already...

You think he was joking Nie? This is the guy that advocates shooting police if you feel they are infringing your rights... Why would you think he was joking? There is a difference between "Tony is joking" and "what Tony says is a joke" you could convince me of the latter.
Hopefully Tony's Mom will confiscate his gun before he hurts someone, or himself.....

But then, you think Ann Coulter is joking too. Excuse me if I don't place much credence in your evaluation of Tony's intent. I think he was dead serious. Why don't we ask him? Tony? Were you joking about bringing guns to a protest?

He didn't say guns, he said armed.
I can't legally carry a gun where I live, and as an outspoken political type I can't let the side down by risking a gun charge.
Next time I go a protest I will be carrying one of these:

An ignorant person like you has no room to talk. Tell me, is islam a religion or a race? You seem to forget a lot.

I was half serious. If I go to a protest and people start attacking me, why should I be defenseless? It's a valid question.

Lots of good reasons. Big crowds might jostle you and you could lose your gun. Or you might, in the heat of the moment, decide that one of the protestors was trying to "remove your rights" and that you would be justified in using deadly force against them.
If you go to a protest looking for trouble, then you are likely to find it.

You're wrong. And you didnt even address my question. I people start attacking me @ a protest, why should I be defenseless?

I went to a protest in Cincinnati openly armed. I'll never forget the reaction from a couple of Black Panther thugs who were there counter-protesting us.
They walked up encroaching very close to people, trying to be intimidating, dressed like ninjas in black leather, bandana masked faces, and black sunglasses. They looked like terrorists. Then they noticed I was armed, put their hands in their pockets, and promptly turned around and left.
There is nothing wrong with peacfully protesting, armed or not. I have the right to walk down the street armed anytime of day. That righht doesn't cease to exist because I am protesting somewhere.
All the cameras this guy puts his faith in wont save you. There have been plenty of people beaten, or shot to death while the camera rolls. The camermen are interested in getting their news story, not putting down the camera to help you out.

@mummymonkey:
Those on the extreme left and right of the rack are bills - literally can-openers, or armor-openers, more exactly. They were also useful for pulling riders off their horses.
The center three are halberds - a multi-purpose axe & pike combined weapon. Also very useful against armored knights.
@tony:
Wrong analogy.
It should be: if you are looking for a HIV-positive to have sex with, you are looking for AIDS.
I won´t take the time to discuss any further. I´ve been down that road once before, and although it is fun to see how you wriggle when I grab you by your own quotes, it really leads to nothing.
Let me just state that people like you and RichardG confirm every ugly prejudice about Americans. Thank Ed there are lots of sensible Americans in this forum to show you are not that "God´s Own Country" has to offer.

There is some angry Frenchman inside about 100 pounds of metal. He is trying to kill you. You need a can-opener to kill him.

I'll take that as a compliment. The USA was born giving the the rest of the worlds sensibilities the middle-finger. Like a true American, I'm continuing my forefathers traditions.

Polearms. They are designed for a man on foot to fight an armored knight on horseback.
Although artistically done, each hook and spike is purely functional.
The hooks are to catch armor and pull the knight off his horse. The spikes on the end are to stab a charging horse. The spikes on the side are armor piercers.

Aussie? As in "Australian"? Just plain wrong. (Not that I considered Australians in any way inferior - never!)
You should have spent more time reading one or the other post I did instead of cradling the flag and nursing your prejudices. Maybe then you would know where I come from.
:ger:
You know this one? Does it look particularly Australian to you? No? Bright guy.
And, about the prejudices: one of them is that Americans is that Americans have only one solution for each and every problem that presents itself: violence - preferable done by them to the others. Just like several of your posts have suggested recently.

I'm sorry I got your country of origin wrong.

Violence seemed to work against your nazi grandparents.
But that's really irrelevant, the situation here is one of self-defense against an angry mob and weather I have the right to defend myself or not. People like you think I shouldn’t have that right.

Humbridge taken. Just because Europe warred itself into socialism doesn't mean that you get to bag on all Americans.

Geroge Carlyn wondered about the thought process of the inventor of the flame thrower: "gee, I'd like to set the people over there on fire... but it's too much to walk..."

Actually, Americans have a long history of being militarily impotent. For the first 150 years or so of the USA, the military (except during the Civil War) never got all that big. Compare the US military in size to others in 1910. It is quite amazing in how little it is.
We were always de facto relying on the British navy to protect us and Latin America.
When America entered World War I, we were so unprepared we had to use French tanks and other equipment.
In World War II, the Americans had such a little military experience that their first few battles against the Axis were embarrassing (Kasserine Pass).
In Korea, the US had de-militarized to such an extent, that in the beginning the US was completely outgunned by the North Koreans.
It is only in the early 1960s that the American military started to grow to the extent it is today.
And a big part of this was the fact that Europe was so devastated after 1945, they needed help to defend themselves against the Soviet threat.
I have heard the sterotype that the US is inherently a violent and militiristic country, but I don't think the facts warrent that.
Just something to chew on...:)

Ever read The Long March by Peter Neumann? Allegedly the confessions of a Waffen SS man on the eastern front. Written in French so it may be fiction. I read an English translation.
It contains a description of interrogating Russian prisoners using a flame thrower. Ask one a question about Russian troop locations. He doesn't answer?
FWOOM!
Ask another one the same question, etc.
