MSNBC proves nothing of the sort. It only proves that the news staff of MSNBC feels that some of the fighting is motivated by religious fervor on the part of the Iraqis. Whether that is true or not is likely a matter of opinion.
Further, even if you take it at face value, it has nothing to do with Boykins comments. Boykin's comments were troublesome because they implied that it was a religious war from OUR side, i.e. that we were at war with them because they were Muslims. The article only really addressed the Iraqis reasons for fighting, not our own. Had the article read "Joint Chiefs declare initiative to drive Satanic Muslims from Iraq", You may have been right in saying that it is a religious war. It still wouldn't make Boykin right, though. It would just have made it a religious war from both sides point of view.

billiefan, you seemed so relatively sensible the last week. Now you go off the rails with nutty stuff like this. You really should try to understand a topic before blasting out proclaimations.

If anything, this may be a religious war for the religious extremists, but it isn't one for the US.

"Crusaders" is a derogatory term in this sense. It means Americans are nothing but a bunch of brainless unbathed psychos driven by the lust for conquest under the guise of piety. Name calling only proves that there are residents of Fallujah who don't like the US, and seeing how one of our hellicopters got shot down over there, it's not surprising that someone over there hates the US.

Boykin proved himself a heathen and polythiest with statements like "my god is bigger than his god..." which implies that a) his opponent has a "god" that is different than Boykin's, and b) that Boykin's "god" -- like Zeus striking at some lesser diety -- is the biggest on the block (but not exclusive).
Billie, this man is not expressing Xian theology or views. You defend him at the peril of your eternal salvation....
