They say that anger is a wasted emotion. I think that "marginally upset" with yourself is acceptable though...

It sounds to me like you are having a passive aggressive relationship with yourself.
I strongly suggest you chant OOOHHHHMMMMMM and get your chakras aligned before the winter solstice.

Anger's useful - when channeled into constructive behavior, anyway. Most of the time, it's not.

No, you should be angry at yourself for all that guiltless tergiversation. Or something like that. I've lost track.

You and me both, I could never understand sustained anger directed at others. Some people waste so much of their lives being angry at themselves or others. Deal with it get it out and be done with it, so everyone can move on. I certainly have no problem being angry at myself, something or someone else, but that anger is vented at that time in as constructive a fashion as I can muster at the time. So it is only a concern at the incidental moment. Anger is a survival tactic, it produces the displays that often drive off competitors, sustaining such anger after the incident is not a survival tactic and can be detrimental to such.

Anger is a very complicated issue. I mean seems people get upset about everything anymore. I get upset but then I pray and the Lord helps me difuse the anger before it could become sin. Oh yeah and in my BC days I was a total rage-o-holic which got me in some serious trouble so this is one I know too well. God help us all not to let the sun go down on our anger so the enemy gets a foothold. Overcome evil with good!

I always thought that Xander got it right:
"Buffy, this is all about fear. It's understandable, but you can't let it control you. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to anger... no, wait... Fear leads to hate, hate leads to the dark side... Hold on... Hate... no... first you get the women, then you get the money, then you get... okay, forget that."

Most atheists have been theists, so we understand the mindset.
But most theists suck at understanding atheists. It seems that they go out of their way not to understand them. Their faith requires that they seem atheists as "angry" or "immoral".

“A Poison Tree” by William Blake
I was angry with my friend:
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe;
I told it not, my wrath did grow.
And I water'd it in fears,
Night & morning with my tears;
And I sunned it with my smiles
And with soft deceitful wiles.
And it grew both day and night,
Till it bore an apple bright;
And my foe beheld it shine,
And he knew that it was mine,
And into my garden stole
When the night had veil'd the pole:
In the morning glad I see
My foe outstretch'd beneath the tree.
Unfortunately it is not always one’s enemies that are poisoned by the fruits of one’s anger or of one’s God’s anger. What of one’s God’s anger, can you claim your God to be as magnanimous and forgiving as you or do you simply pass the responsibility for retribution to some higher power? Do you pray for forgiveness of the offender or simply for assuagement of your anger and the alleviation of you from responsibility for the possibility of some eventual reciprocity?
