Just a quick thread to tell everyone I'm still alive and kicking and to kick someone. (I'd kick Susan but she's standing right here.) It's nice to read what evryone's up to. My thanks to all JREFers (pitchfork wielding or not) for all the kind thoughts, words and support.
It has occured to me that many of the things which are done to me here are done to others who have specific fetishes. (Being showered by nurses, nurses rubbing various ointments on my backside, etc.)
We're hoping to be able to make the cruise and to get to see some of you. I will not, however, be able to bring any of the nurses with me. :(

That's funny. The nurses I know are just about evenly divided between the wonderful angelic feel-like-they-are-your-friend-or-your-neighbor types and the strict, impatient, scream-at-you, I-have-a-job-to-do types.
I respect both, of course, but always hope for the "Mom types".

My grandfather suffers from dementia, and moved permanently into a nursing home several years ago. After a couple of months, he just happened to query my grandmother, "How come, now that I'm 80, every woman I meet wants to take my clothes off?".
Robert, I'm glad to hear you're doing well. All the best!

hehehe... nurses ;) Has there ever been better alliteration in the history of the English language than "naughty nurses?" Poetic inspiration at its best.
You sound like you are on the road to recovery. My continued best wishes in your recovery. Your situation scares the hell out of me because of all the difficult work it did to get where you are now. Picture having to have done that without your excellent support network. That's where many of us would be if we had a stroke. I just spent a week tag teaming with my mom watching over my dad who had a heart attack who also has alzheimers at the hospital. We needed to stay with him because he would get ornery if he didn't see a family member at any moment he woke up. Being a single guy with no children I know no one is queueing up to sit with me if I get sick.
I may need to rethink my priorities. You're blessed -- and I don't throw that wooish word around lightly.

Hey, you guys! Keep up the posts! Robert has been showing more interest in the computer and internet lately, so he will be reading - and perhaps posting as well - a lot more! Your posts mean a lot to him. And, don't forget, you are all a large part of his "support network." What you say here goes a long way in helping his recovery.
So, if you don't see this thread on the first page, please find it and "bump" it up, OK?
Thanks for your continued support.

Hi Robert,
This is just to say hello and let you know that we realize how difficult your recovery is. You have a vast audience who loves you and who look forward to you writing again. People you never met have been helped by you. Your ability to run your website again matters. Whatever hell it takes to get to the point you can write again matters. People will suffer if you don't recover. Many of us wring our hands that your voice is missing -- no one has been able to take your place.
We only go through life once and don't do what I do and do what I say. Recover and help others. You're gifted and that makes you burdened. Sorry, but true.
