Anyone? Ideally what I'd like is something where you could click on a link that gives recaps, timelines, and/or has general/more in-depth info for a given people/culture/empire/etc, like:
Egyptians
Persians
Romans
Greeks
Babylonians
etc etc

Take a look at livius.org (http://www.livius.org/). Not so much timelines, but many in-depth articles on about all cultures in antiquity.

Thanks - there is some good stuff here, but it's kind of scattered all over, which is generally what I'm finding. I guess I was hoping for a site that is a more condensed, organized version of this. oh well

What you're asking for is scattered. I don't know how someone can condense the whole histories of the whole world into a single readable site and still be faithful to the histories of each of the cultures in antiquity.
That said, I'm willing to work with others to come up with some kind of framework for such a site, maybe similar to the Wikipedia framework as a model, but I could only contribute parts of the actual data for a few of the cultures (mostly Mid-Eastern and Egyptian).

Start with Wikipedia. Read what it has, then scroll down to the References and the Notes sections for further information. That's what I usually do.

If you are looking for a condensed, organized history of some ancient culture, the best site may be your local public library.

Thx but pass. 9 times out of 10 either some moron is letting their kid run around or someone else has a hacking cough (etc etc). I've all but given up on libraries.
I was really hoping for some site that recapped most of them in one place (ideally having links for each to go more in-depth as one wished). That'd be a great site.

I don't know of any, but asking on the forum over here: http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=70 might get you an answer. Many of the people who designed that mod are History lecturers.

Thanks for the link. I was quite excited when I first read about EB, but then forgot all about it, now downloaded and causing much confusion.

That looks kinda like what I was hoping for, more or less - could be great when it's done.
