View Full Version : Another error in TAM2 flyer

I just noticed this: Ian Rowland's book is not The Art of Cold Reading, as stated in the flyer, but rather The Full Facts Book of Cold Reading. There is a book called The Art of Cold Reading, but it's a much older (and, I believe, more dated) title written by Robert Nelson. I mention it only because people looking to get Ian's book before TAM2 could be confused.

Whoa...Quinn, you're right! We caught that error once, and obviously missed that the correction wasn't made. Oh man, that sucks!

You should watch your language, Linda. You wouldn't want MoeFaux to ban you from the forum with her new moderator powers! ;)

Will Ian have copies for sale at TAM2? You know us skeptics, we'll all arrive with an empty suitcase just for our purchases!

I have the 2nd edition and found it most excellent. Everyone should have a copy on the 'debunking' bookshelf.

Renata got that book for me, and I would like to highly reccomend it! I'm actually using some of the techniques...they are sort of Dale Carnegie like in nature. So, for shy people this is a great book! I haven't actually spoken yet in PalTalk, but maybe if I read the book again I can....

Kitty, I would like to add that Ian signed all 12 the books for me in a row. All the names were rather boring, you can guess what type of middle American names. There was a good crowd of people too, watching him sign a stack of books. I was going by a list I had. And in the middle of my list, I say "kitty". He looks up. I say "kitty and I swear, it is not for me". You should have seen the glances from people around me! :D Just from that, you must talk at Paltalk!

well, I always liked interesting names....Kitty is even a bit bland for me.

The kids I went a little crazy on, but all Pool Boy said was, "hey, what ever name you pick is ok with me..." He still can't spell Kitten 2's name with any consistancy. I'm thinking though after having to spell AYNSLEY over and over again (try getting the bakery to spell it right on a birthday cake...) that I might have gone too far. Sad part now is that there are Aynsley's crawling out of the woodwork...

The good part is for some reason the kids like their names! They've always been, "mom you did a good job!" But these days, a name a little out of the ordinary is good. WhenZach and Zoe end up the "boring popular names" pretty much anything goes....

Re: Names

1. Assuming I ever have sex again.
2. Assuming she likes it enough to have it repeatedly.
3. Assuming she likes it enough to deal with the inevitable results.

I'd love to have a daughter named Nemesis Anestacia.

Oh, I forgot number 4..

4. Assuming this woman who likes having sex with me enough to procreate will allow me to namer "her daughter."

Nemesis....

"mom, I've met my Nemesis...." pretty cool US. I'd go for it, but I can't afford any more children. I've thought up lots of cool baby names, but having a kid just to name it is a bit shallow. However, my pets names rock! ( oh yeah, your cats have really cool names!!!!)

Also, while the middle name is nice, you kind of forget about it. When Kitten graduated and they announced her middle name, people were like , "what????" Even I was like, "geez, that was a cool name!" (if she even becomes a stripper, it's a good stage name....but don't think that's happening!)

I grew up just enough South (DC considered itself South) that the family used first and middle names. That is so sickening...but when my grandmother did it, I didn't mind cause I loved her.
