View Full Version : What's So 'Weird' About 'Weird' Weather?

The news outlets seem to be going through fits of, "Oh! The weather has become so weird!"

Weird, compared to what? What's weird about it?

The recent storm in Southern California sparked additional like speculations. They said the weather is 'getting weird' because it snowed in Watts, because it 'never' snows in Watts. Except for the fact that it does snow in Watts, about once or twice a century. The same can be said for just about any location in Southern California.

You know, I think I get it now. By 'weird', they mean the weather is typical. Yes, I agree.

I guess the Headline

"Atypical but by no means unprecedented Weather"

doesn't scan as well

So snowing in Watts once or twice a century makes snow in Watts 'typical'? I think it make it 'news'. ;)

Sometimes around these parts, blood rains down from the sky, but its so common hardly anyone considers it "weird"...
